'How I Met Your Mother' Struggling in Syndication on Lifetime - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

A number of off-network shows have struggled on Lifetime, writes Jon Lafayette at B&C.

According to the article, last week the Walt Disney Co., when it reported its earning, said, "it had taken a $58 million charge against earnings for its share of writing off a program at Lifetime, which became part of A&E Television Networks last year. (Disney is partners in AETN with Hearst and NBC.)"

The article continues, "Sources said the charge was for the 'Medium,' featuring a housewife who solves crimes by communicating with spirits. Lifetime bought the rerun rights to 'Medium' from CBS. Because of low ratings, 'Medium' no longer appears on Lifetime, which is one reason why the charge against earnings was so large. 'Medium' is still running on CBS, thanks in part to the money it gets from Lifetime."

Lafayette adds, that Lifetime also "didn’t have much luck with ABC’s 'Desperate Housewives' and 'Grey’s Anatomy' and is still paying for those. And two newer sitcom acquisitions from CBS, 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'New Adventures of Old Christine' are struggling."

I may be a little old fashioned but I don't think a show should be syndicated when it is still in production.

ITS BECAUSE ITS ON LIFETIME.

seriously, they hack the episodes up, cover them with screen bugs, cutoff the intro AND the closing and credits, plus they run the shows into the ground AND make you watch ads for mentally incompetent made-for-tv movies

No, it's not because it is on Lifetime. It is struggling on WGN America and local syndication as well.
