Warner Bros. Sets Up E-mail Address For All of the "Veronica Mars" Movie Requests
EXCLUSIVE: Rob Thomas Calls WB's "Veronica Mars" Movie Email Address a 'Glimmer of Hope'
by Chris Harnick posted Nov 10th 2010 Breaking news: Fans want a "Veronica Mars" movie. Wait, that's not breaking news -- that's been the case since the series went off the air in 2007. However, it is news that Warner Bros., seemingly out of nowhere, has set up a new email address, VeronicaMarsMovie@warnerbros.com, for fans to bombard them with emails about turning the cult-hit series into a film. "I was surprised as anyone that Warner Bros. set up a 'Veronica Mars' email address," the show's creator Rob Thomas told TV Squad via email. "No one has talked to me about it." Warner Bros. posted this lovely message on its Twitter page over the weekend: "Thanks for all of the Veronica Mars LoVe! Please send your film requests and petitions to VeronicaMarsMovie@warnerbros.com." "I was happy to see it," Thomas said of the email. "It gives me a glimmer of hope, but I'm just like everyone else wondering, 'What does this mean?' I hope it means it's under consideration, but I have no insider knowledge on that front." When you email the address -- because if you loved the series and TV in general you should -- you'll get this auto-reply: "Thank you for your interest in a VERONICA MARS movie. This is an automated response; due to the volume of mail we receive, we are unable to respond to individual messages, but rest assured, we are reading all of the messages we get. The fan support has been incredible, and we really appreciate your loyalty and enthusiasm towards the show." If you plan to drop WB a line, here are a few key points you may want to touch upon in your email: • There are close to 22,000 people in the "I will go see 'Veronica Mars: The Movie'" group on Facebook. Plus, "Veronica Mars" fans are loyal -- WB can count at least two tickets for every pledge from repeat viewings. 162,505 people have listed the series as one of their favorite shows on Facebook. • Talk about your passion for the show. Have a specific "Veronica Mars" story? Share it, but keep it brief. • Mention creator Rob Thomas' statements about the movie -- he's ready. See this Tweet: "Ready to write the Veronica Mars movie the day Warner Brothers gives us a green light. Thanks, everyone, for keeping hope alive." • Reference Kristen Bell's willingness. She said she'd finance the film! While some other sites have been a little bit more snarky about the creation of this email address, it shouldn't stop the tenacity. Send those emails -- we've already sent ours! http://www.tvsquad.com/2010/11/10/ve...ie-rob-thomas/ |
