The grave marked with the name Morton (for her husband Gary Morton) is where Lucy was initially buried when she died. This grave site is located at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills cemetery in Los Angeles. In 2002 family members had her remains and those of her mother, Desiree Ball, moved to the family burial plot at Lake View Cemetery in Jamestown, New York. (Lucy's home town) That is where she is currently interred. This is the grave site in the second photo with her parents names on the same gravestone and her grandfather, Fred Hunt, buried beside them.

The fanmily has stated, and it's been documented, that Lucy's wish was to be buried with her mother. Gary Morton was not buried with her in California, and keeping with her final wish, the children moved her back to New York with her mother.
Some people bulked at the move, others saw it as a cheapen way to get promotion for Jamestown and the museum. My opinion is that the children did what they felt was best. Had it been anyone but Lucille Ball no one would have thought twice about it. Considering that it was Lucille Ball, a small private family decision turned into a big deal. It looks as it Gary was cremated and not buried, perhaps his ashes were given to his widow? http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg...e=gr&GRid=5520 |
