Rainn Wilson Takes Himself Out of The Running to Be New 'Office' Boss - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Rainn Wilson has offered up his suggestions as to who should replace Steve Carell on The Office.

Speaking to Access Hollywood, the actor confirmed that auditions for Dunder Mifflin's new boss are currently underway.

"I know they've been interviewing a lot of people for the position of the boss," he said.

The actor then jested: "They reached out to Dame Judi Dench last week, Queen Latifah, Nick Nolte and Ice-T or Ice Cube, I can't remember. There's a lot of options out there on the table."

One scenario that Wilson ruled out completely was his character Dwight taking over as the Scranton branch's regional manager.

"Dwight could never become the boss because he would just fire everybody in the office," he said. "It just wouldn't work out.

"It would be episode one, season eight - 'You're all fired!' Roll credits. The end. Goodbye. Goodnight everybody."

The Office airs on Thursdays on NBC
