Denise Borino-Quinn, the Jersey gal from Roseland who found stardom as a cast member of "The Sopranos,'' passed away Oct. 27 at Morristown Memorial Hospital after a battle with liver cancer, according to the Farmer Funeral Home in Roseland.

She was 46.

Borino-Quinn won her role of Ginny Sacrimoni -- the Mafia wife with the weight situation -- after she answered open casting call in Harrison in 2000. She had no previous acting experience.

Her role grew to such an extent that her character was featured in the Oct. 6, 2002,
episode called "The Weight.''

"I remember David Chase telling me about it at the Christmas party,'' said Borino-Quinn to the Home News Tribune earlier this year. "He said he wrote a whole episode about me and that I had a lot of work to do.''

When not starring on TV, Borino-Quinn worked at the Hoagland-Longo law firm in New Brunswick.

"I was blessed to have worked with her for four years,'' said attorney Marc Gaffrey.
"She was a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful person. I'm so broken up over it and my kids feel terrible.''

Borino-Quinn's husband, Luke A. Quinn Jr., had passed way in March. The two, who had no children, lived in Bordentown.

"That was horrendous for her,'' Gaffrey said. "She needed support and her husband Luke was a wonderful man.''

After the show, Borino-Quinn lost 175 pounds thanks to stomach stapling surgery.

""My voice gives it away,'' Borino-Quinn said. "When me and my husband are at Chickie's and Pete's in Jersey or South Philly, people will hear me talking and say, 'Do I know you from somewhere? Oh my God, you're Ginny Sack!'''

A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Roseland. In lieu of flowers, donations to Morristown Memorial Hospital, 100 Madison Ave., Morristown, NJ 07962 are encouraged.
