Nine Inch Nails Re-Releasing Debut Album 'Pretty Hate Machine' on Nov. 22nd
NIN Re-Releasing 'Pretty Hate Machine'
by Gregory S. Burkart Oct 25, 2010 Nine Inch Nails founder Trent Reznor has announced the upcoming re-release of the band's first full-length studio album – the groundbreaking 1989 release Pretty Hate Machine. The album became one of the most influential records from the early 1990s industrial-rock revolution and forever carved the letters N-I-N into music history. Reznor's latest new update gave a few early hints about the reissue, as well as the revamped cover art and the official release date. “It’s been an interesting trip watching the fate of this record float from one set of hands to another,” Reznor explained in his latest posting to NIN Official News, summing up his chaotic legal battles with original record label TVT as “a long and depressing story.” Thankfully the album has found its way back into what Trent describes as “friendly territory,” giving him and mastering engineer Tom Baker – who has worked on virtually every NIN release – the opportunity to recover the original mixes and give them the detailed treatment they've been missing for the past 20-plus years. (an earlier re-master was issued by Rykodisc in 2005, but the label reportedly balked at the cost of a proposed deluxe edition) Even the original cover art by Gary Talpas has been given a slight update by Rob Sheridan. “We had fun revisiting this old friend,” Reznor concluded. The remastered Pretty Hate Machine will be released on November 22nd by UMe and Bicycle Music Group. http://www.fearnet.com/news/b20711_n...e_machine.html |
