Default Season four released in Germany - DVD Summary

Season four was released in Germany recently, much like season 3 there werent (to my knowledge) any edits at all, so to sum up all four German DVD releases from Warner Bros:

*1 episode edited to remove music (For Your Eyes Only)
*1 episode presented as a syndicated print (Somewhere Over the Rerun)
*1 two-part episode presented in censored form (Try to Remember)

*98 unedited episodes!

*No extras whatsoever

Nice change from the american DVDs that had 98 EDITED episodes.

And worse still is they weren't only syndicated versions, they had any music references cut out as well.

The thought-to-be unedited ep "Make em Laugh" runs 23:45 on the german dvds but 23:30 on the american, might be some slight edit on it still. I will check it out though.

I'm very surprised that any of the american releases run more than 23 minutes.

I heard that the german DVDs were unedited. When ALF was on TV in Sweden a few years ago, they showed all unedited episodes.

To update - "Make em Laugh" does indeed have a very tiny edit on the american DVDs.
The (unedited) episode begins with the tv announcer saying:
"And now, direct from his tour of canadian prisons,
Giggles-in-the-valley is very proud to present..."
The american DVD excises the first line and begins the episode with "Giggles-in-the-valley". Very tiny edit of about 7 seconds but an edit nonetheless.

Another notice - the final ep has the "TO BE CONTINUED" tag in the end of the episode this is not on the american DVDs

I'll never ever understand why American television series get better releases overseas. Alf in Germany; Roseanne has a complete series un-edited in Germany (Seasons 1,8 & 9 are edited here); Bewitched: The Complete Series, with new extras in Japan.....I just don't get it.

I don't think Roseanne - Seasons 8 and 9 are edited here in the US. I think they are both unedited. I have Roseanne - Seasons 8 and 9 and I didn't notice anything that was edited. I know Roseanne - Season 1 is definitely edited here in the US.

Well for one thing, (from season 8) when Lecy Goransen returns to alternate in the Becky role, they did routine with the "Identical Beckys" to The Patty Duke Show theme. That was so classic, and its not included.

Oh okay. I did not know that. That sucks they didn't include that. I wish Roseanne would request for the studio to re-release Roseanne - Season 1 unedited here in the US.

Music replacements were used in seasons 8-9 (the song when Roseanne is in the hospital with her new baby and the song when Darlene's baby nearly died comes to mind), and as mentioned, several scenes including music numbers were edited out, I think about 7 in total. So some episodes end with the end credits over a black screen with theme song playing. Bev's musical number in "Someday my prince will come" for instance.

eBay and Amazon seem to have stopped allowing German DVDs to be shipped to the US. Does anyone know a site where I can order the German Season 4 to be shipped to the US?

Does that include the German Amazon site (amazon.de) as well?
