The tides of tradition are turning in Taiwan, but the tradition of Old Maid status is still strong. In light of growing social pressure and government concern about later marriages and lower birthrates in the overpopulated country, Chen married herself

"Age thirty is a prime period for me. My work and experience are in good shape, but I haven't found a partner, so what can I do?"asks a beleaguered Chen.

[Chen has received a few sympathetic supporters, but no doubt, some cannot hold in their sarcasm. One user writes: “This brings up a lot of issues….Hope she doesn’t have an affair, since she will only be cheating on herself. What if it doesn’t work out? Who will she blame and will she divorce herself?”

[The marriage is really all for show, since Chen cannot register to marry herself. She says that if someone comes along, she will be more than happy to marry a man. I wonder how many propositions she has had since she posted up her solo wedding photos

this brings being in love with yourself to hole new level he can tell her you may now kiss yourself or kissoff lol.this is one way show the world that woman only cares about herself lol.

Wow......and I thought I was bad off when I went with a group of friends to Homecoming rather than with a date. I never considered taking myself lol, which isn't nearly as bad as deciding to marry myself. I guess that's one way of putting yourself out there as single though.

I for one would rather be happily single than unhappily married. But I would call this...unconventional!!!
