and who remembers his other short-lived series "CHECKIN' OUT"? (I think that's the name-he played s supermarket manager-the show ran in first-run sydnication in the 80s)

It was called Check It Out. Don played supermarket manager Howard Bannister. It ran from 1985 -1988 on CTV in Canada and USA Cable Network in America.
