It's been WONDERFUL having a TJ's near me. It's amazing what great options they have for folks like me to watch their sugar, carbs, fats etc. And their prices are so low and the staff super friendly. They are an act that's hard to beat
![]() ![]() ![]() My staples there are their: fat-free Greek Yogurt, orange muscat vinegar (really delish on salads) , salsas, baked chips, soups, fat-reduced cheeses - and all for at least 30% less than their competitors. They are just wonderful. Anyone else have great experiences with this truly awesome store? |

I've heard of Trader Joe's and I don't think there is one in our area, but I wish there was!!
I see segments about it on The Food Network. Isn't that the store where they give away alot of free samples? That would probably be my meal right there!! And I think that's the store that sell $1.98 bottles of wine!!

The place is great. It's a fun place to shop, and they always have interesting new items. It's like a J. Peterman's (ala Seinfeld)--for food. Their montlhy newsletter is like the Peterman catalogue. Like, last week I bought these baguettes which TJs bought wholesale from a bakery in France and froze them. You heat them up in a toaster oven. They tasted like just out of the oven at a neighborhood bakery!

And on top of all of this, they are always handing out samples of their products. So...not only do you get GREAT prices but they feed you too. Love them love them love them.

I've heard of the franchise but I've never been there.
I know of one that is near me, it's in the Downtown Brooklyn area at Court St. so I may stop by when I am down in that area again. |

That is where I shop! Low prices, great snacks, good organic stuff! Years ago my doctor told me to shop there and I have ever since. I just wish there was one closer to me.

Sorry you don't have one closer - I can easily walk to mine and shop there at least 4X a week. |

My brother works for Trader Joe's, and they're wonderful to work for, as well. Serious applicants can work their way up the ladder pretty fast. My brother began working there in 2001, and he's a manager now, making fantastic money with great benefits. I don't have one near me, but I've been there, and I know what great buys they have. As you know Rich, they have their own brand, and everything is so reasonably priced. I'm so glad that one opened near you. I know you've been going there for years.

Before they opened up the store in Chelsea the only other Manhattan one was almost always jammed packed, so I didn't get to go there as much as I would have liked. And now they're opening up a store on the Upper West Side. Their stuff just disappears off the shelf - and no wonder - like you said - the great prices and very good quality too. The store is an ABSOLUTE Godsend. |

I love Trader Joe's as well and wish I had one closer to me; the closest store is near the mall, about 20 minutes away
However, if I'm near the mall and have the munchies, I will stop in there and pick up a few things. They have great melted "cheese" for tortilla chips...and it's not even made out of cheese (but you could never tell the difference!). I also love their "cat cookies", which are huge tubs of cat-shaped cookies in either chocolate or original (vanilla). They're so crispy and good. I used to go to TJ a lot because I was on Weight Watchers. I'm glad you found a store you love
