Question Have you stayed overnight in a hospital?

I've been pretty lucky, and I've only had one hospital stay. I was hit by a car while riding my bike when I was 15. I spent three days in the hospital; with a banged up head and a broken bone in my lower leg. That's been it for me.

I think my only overnight stay was when I was about 7 or 8, I had my tonsils out.

I remember going to the hospital on a Sunday night for the next-day surgery. What I remember most about going to the hospital is that "The Wizard of Oz" was on TV that night, and I had to leave for the hospital right after the Lion ran out of the Wizard's room, ran down the hallway and dove through the window.

I don't remember how many days I was there, I might have left the day after the surgery, but I'm pretty sure I didn't stay over more than 2 nights.

Other than that, I've never had to stay overnight in a hospital. I've been blessed that way.

Janice, I'm sorry you were hit by a car when you were 15. That sounds very painful.

Yes, I've been in the hospital over night. Two months ago (August) I spent five days in the hospital due to two very large gal stones. I had an ERCP and my gall bladder removed. A month ago I had a second ERCP to remove the stent that was put in during the first ERCP.

I was a premie at birth so I'm not sure how much time I may have spent in the hospail. I would have to ask my mother about that.

In spring 2005, I stayed overnight in the ER with stomach pains, which they thought was appendicitis at first. It turned out to be a minor case of stomach flu.

I've also been pretty lucky, I only had to stay overnight once, when I was 16 back in 1973. That's when I was first diagnosed with a learning disability. Of course, way back then noone knew what was really wrong.

Yes, when I was born.

Also, that was the last time I was ever in a Hospital not visiting a family member...which I unfortunately do on what seems to be a monthly basis.

I did for surgery when I was little, and of course, like the above poster said when I was little but other than that, no. Thankfully.

Have stayed overnight with relatives though.

Fortunately, I have not required an overnight hospital stay (not counting when I was born).

When I was 3 years old, I stayed in the hospital. I don't remember much about it. I couldn't keep any food down and I've been told that I almost died. When I was in 9th grade I stayed a week in the hospital after having an asthma attack. Back then, I used to visit the ER practically every weekend with one. I haven't stayed in the hospital since though.

No need to ask your mom about how long you spent in the hospital after you were born.

You know she is going to ask the question... Why do you ask, Jenny?

Janice, so sorry to hear about that horrible accident when you were a teenager.

As for me, only when I was a very very young kid. So thankfully, not for nearly 50 yrs so far, knock wood.

I've stayed over night several times.
When I was 10 I broke my right ankle and had to have surgery. I was in the hospital a week.
When I was 14 I was in and out of the hospital as I was sick and they were trying to figure out what was wrong. (Finally found out I had a spastic colon) Then later that year after finding out what was wrong, I broke and dislocated my left ankle and was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance (my first and second ride in an ambulance) I had emergency surgery and was in the hospital a couple of weeks.
When I was 15 the screws in my left ankle starting coming out and the did surgery where I was only in the hospital for a few days.
My last stay in the hospital was just a couple of years ago I got real sick and was admitted into the hospital with a fever of 104 and rising. I don't remember much about that stay until my fever broke the following week.

Other than those, when I was in college, I stayed over with my mom at night after classes when they thought she had a heart attack (thank goodness it was nothing).

And last but not least my grandmother broke her hip in August and I spent most every night up at the hospital with her so mom could get rest.

Okay, I think that's it

When I was 5 years old I had a terrible case of Strep Throat and got extremely dehydrated. I had to stay in the hospital for 3 days.
