TV Loni Anderson May Team Up With Ex Burt Reynolds & Norman Lear On A Sitcom For 2011

A new sitcom has brought former couple Burt Reynolds and Loni Anderson back together, 15 years after they divorced.

The pair is set to play warring pensioners living in a retirement home in the untitled show, which being written by "All in the Family" creator Norman Lear, reports the National Enquirer.

Sources tell the tabloid that 74-year-old Reynolds hopes the show will kick start his career, following his recent lifesaving heart surgery, and Anderson agreed to cast aside the ex-couple's differences after their son Quinton, 22, intervened to broker the deal.

An insider tells the Enquirer, "Burt jumped at the chance to make a TV comeback, but he knew that without Loni, the show wouldn't work.

"When Burt and Loni talked, it was awkward at first, but she was touched when she realized how much it could mean to Burt... She realized the show would put him back on the Hollywood map."

Both stars have sitcom experience, Reynolds starred as a football coach in "Evening Shade" and Anderson was a hit in "WKRP in Cincinnati."

Lear reportedly plans to pitch the new show for the 2011 TV season.

Interesting indeed! If the rumors are true, this definitely would be something cool to see. Especially if Norman Lear is attached to it. If I am not mistaken this would be Lear's first tv job since his failed 'Hauser Street' spinoff failed.

I would definitely check it out.

Not really into Loni much beyond WKRP but Burt is always interesting.
Strange career.

You know, I never gave it much thought, but what has Norman Lear been up to since the mid 90's?

Norman Lear is 88 years old. By the time the 2011 TV season starts he will be 89 years old. My guess, the story is either completely made up or a figment of wishful thinking on someone's part. TV networks have shown little interest in programming to audiences over the age 50, the ad dollars are not there. I'm not saying that's right, but that's the way it is.

On a side note, don't you think any potential audience might find it a little depressing to think of Burt and Loni in a retirement home.

They should make it a retirement community, a 55 and over type residential housing community. (unless that is what they mean)

They don't seem old enough for a "retirement home."
