Link

Roger A. Peterson, 89, passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at Renaissance Gardens, Seabrook Village, Tinton Falls. Mr. Peterson was born in Cokato, Minnesota. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild, (SAG), N.Y.C. and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA). He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy, during World War II. He was a volunteer reader for the blind at the Lighthouse for the blind in NYC for over 18 years. Mr. Peterson was proud of his Eagle Scout accomplishment. He started his early career in acting in the mid 1940's and performed in Broadway shows. He became a TV producer starting on the Gary Moore Show with Carol Burnett. Mr. Peterson then produced game shows for Goodson-Todman Productions, New York for over 40 years such as, I've Got a Secret, What's My Line, ToTell the Truth and others. He later moved to California and was the Production Manager of The Price Is Right, Family Feud, Snap Judgment, and Password.
Surviving is his life partner of 50 years, James Thomson of Ocean Township; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Joan Peterson of Winchester, Va.; two nephews, Jonathan and Jeffrey; two nieces, Diane Randall and Karen Guida; and a cousin and his wife, Kaki and Clair Peterson, Minneapolis, Minn.
A Memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8 at Holy Innocents R.C. Church, 3455 W. Bangs Ave., Neptune. Commital services will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. Default Roger Peterson...

...also appeared in at least one short-lived 1956 Goodson-Todman game show, "CHOOSE UP SIDES", an NBC Saturday afternoon kids' "stunt show" (with Gene Rayburn as emcee), representing the "Space Rangers" team every week [wearing a space suit, naturally, with helmet]. I know this because Game Show Network, before they started concentrating on game shows of "recent vintage", used to show "kinnies" of "CHOOSE UP SIDES" on occasion, years ago.

Roger was also Allan Sherman's secretary when he was producer of "I'VE GOT A SECRET" at the time. Sherman recalled his frustration in late 1955 [in his 1965 autobiography "A Gift of Laughter"] over not having a secretary at his disposal, as most Goodson-Todman producers and executives had one. After using a number of devious ploys, he was finally assigned one. He wondered what kind of woman it would be (sexy? perfume? wild?)...."At the stroke of ten, my new secretary walked in. His name was Roger Peterson".

I remember seeing Roger when I used to go to tapings of TTTT at NBC's Rockefeller Center Studios in the 70s. It was in Studio 6A, where they also did Three on a Match and The Who, What or Where Game. Roger was the guy who would signal the buzzer when a panelist's time was up. He showed a friend of mine pictures from their Disney World trip which they took in 1977. This is when Joe Garagiola was host. Roger mentioned that Bill Cullen, Peggy Cass and Joe Garagiola all went on Space Mountain, which is an indoor roller coaster in the dark.
