I believe that Dorothy Lyman also played Jesse's mother in the ABC(?) drama Life Goes On (Jesse was the kid with AIDS).

Also, the other day I taped and watched an episode of Saved By the Bell: The College Years in which Gloria Loring (Liz Chandler on Days of Our Lives, 1980-1986) played Leslie's mother!

well, it all depends on the person themself, as some soap actors and actresses could pull off a sitcom, and some just couldn't. like Lynn Herring of abc's port charles and general hospital could totally pull off her own sitcom, but other more serious soap stars like, Jacklyn Zeman or genie Francis of ABC's GENERAL HOSPITAL could not pull off a sitcom because their acting roots are dramatic and it would be to hard for them to do comedy.
