Default TJL - Writer!

Hey kids, TJL here. Hope everyone is doing well.

I have big news. Are you sitting down? Good.

I just got a job as a writer!

Back in August I got a call from a friend who works for a movie channel (kind of like HBO) and the people in their programming department were looking for writers for a thing they're developing. My friend told them I would be perfect for the job.

They were looking for people to write jokes introducing the bad movies they plan to show during thier late night movie block. I can't give out specific details, but I will soon.

I interviewed, sent them some spec material for a few movies they plan to show, and I got the job. It's a freelance position, so they pay me for material I hand in.

So basically, they are going to pay me to watch bad movies and write jokes about them.

it's like the universe is in perfect allignment.

I'm planning to make a show called "Craptastic Movie Show" where me and my brother play our first real names (like how a few shows would have characters that have the same first name as their given name...not like "Seinfeld" where Jerry Seinfeld plays himself as a character...more like how Tim Allen played Tim Taylor in "Home Improvement").

We would watch bad movies and make comments and in between the show, we would have sketches.

I may give you a letter on how can I make that dream into a reality....

BTW-Congratulations!

Thanks for the kind words folks.
I've been working all week on the project.
I haven't left my apartment since Monday!
I have almost 20 movies to view and write material for. Two other writers are working on thier own batches of 20 movies. We hope to have them all done by the end of next week so production can begin.
It's kinda cool to be paid to watch bad movies and write jokes, but the bad thing is you have to watch bad movies.
Some of the ones I have seen so far are terrible. But you have to watch the entire movie to find any bits you can work with.
Luckily, we have a lot of leway with what we can write, so I don't even have to talk about the movie if I don't want to.
I haven't recieved any feedback from the producers yet on the material I have submitted, hopefully the rewrites won't be that bad.

Talk to you soon!

Are you under a gag order to not reveal the names of these movies?
Are any of them well known?

That's a good question. I'm probably not, but I don't want to take any chances. Sorry.
Of the 20 movies I'm working on, I know/have seen seven of them. A couple are old eighties movies -one of them was a pretty big hit - but since it's a very eighties movie, it has a certain cheesiness to it now.

Most of the list is made up of straight to dvd low budget horror flicks.
