Katie Couric may return to her old stomping ground on the "Today" show when her "CBS Evening News" contract expires in May, reports the New York Post's Page Six.
The article adds the spot is expected to open up because "Today" co-host Meredith Vieira is expected to leave the program to spend more time with her family. While Couric had been talking with Jeff Zucker, who had been her producer at the show before he became CEO of NBC Universal, his departure from the company doesn't rule out the move for Couric, the story says. http://www.tvweek.com/blogs/tvbizwire/ |

That rumor/story is not True:
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/...insider_b33160 Katie Couric back to ‘Today?’ ‘Ridiculous’ Says Insider By Chris Ariens on September 30, 2010 11:59 AM There’s another Page Six report about Katie Couric possibly returning to the “Today” show when her CBS News contract expires next year. But a top NBC News insider tells TVNewser the report is “ridiculous.” “It’s a negotiating tactic,” says the insider about the story, adding, “I don’t even think (Couric) wants to do it.” The Page Six story also speculates Couric might end up at Time Warner or stay with CBS because “she gets along famously” with CBS Corp CEO Les Moonves. Page Six also reports Couric’s return to NBC would be made possible because “Meredith Vieira is expected to leave ‘Today.’” Our source says that, despite Vieira signing a contract extension through next September, she very well might sign on again. “There’s a lot of time to think about that.” http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/next...fmcgjmR4hvxWWO Katie Couric may return to 'Today' Last Updated: 9:16 AM, September 30, 2010 Posted: 11:00 PM, September 29, 2010 Comments: 50 |More Print Katie Couric might end up back on the "Today" show when her "CBS Evening News" contract expires at the end of May. A spot will be open because Meredith Vieira is expected to leave "Today" to spend more time with her family. Sources say Couric had been talking with her old friend Jeff Zucker, her producer at "Today" before he rose to CEO of NBC-Universal. But Zucker's just-announced exit from the network won't preclude a Couric move to NBC. She's also lunched with Time Warner chairman Jeff Bewkes, whose empire includes CNN. Sources also say she gets along famously with CBS boss Les Moonves and might stay with the Tiffany Network, although for a much lower paycheck than the $15 million a year she's said to be making now |
