Bryan Fuller, creator of the wonderful, short-lived Pushing Daisies, is working on a contemporary reboot of the 1960s sitcom The Munsters. NBC has at this point only ordered a pilot of the series, which is being described as “Modern Family meets True Blood.” If you're not salivating yet, there’s also this: none other than Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy) is rumored to be “eying a behind-the-scenes role in the project.”

Was this Jeff Zucker's parting shot?

Leave it to NBC. Let's turn a sweet innocent sitcom from the 60's and make it a True Blood remake.

Yeah....as perhaps the only person on the planet who thinks "True Blood" is WAY overhyped, don't put The Munsters in such a category.

It probably won't be anything like The Munsters, but rather a family of ghoulish characters. By that I mean they won't be Herman, Lily, Grandpa, Eddie and Marilyn. I can see the young looking, attractive vampire, sexy witch, werewolf with a muscular body, etc.

....the last time NBC tried to revive one of its "own" series {and I just don't mean what previously appeared on their network, I mean NBC/Universal as a whole}, "THE BIONIC WOMAN" was a great disappointment. And the umpteenth attempt to create a "new" version of "KNIGHT RIDER" didn't work, either. There have been at least two attempts in the past to "reboot" "THE MUNSTERS", with mixed results. This version, I fear, is gooing to be the worst.
The original was a success because it NEVER took itself too seriously. Bryan Fuller does not have the satiric attitude that Joe Connelly & Bob Mosher had...and his "PUSHING DAISIES" flopped with a mass audience simply because it was too "clever" for its own good. That attitude won't help "THE MUNSTERS", *ahem*, "return from the dead". Was this "Jeff Zucker's parting shot", 'Zoneboy'? Not really. This is what happens when a network like CBS gets lucky and creates a successful [so far] reworking of 'HAWAII FIVE-O"...which causes the other networks to think to themselves, "We can do that, too!". Most often, they only think they can...

If they ever do a remake of The Munsters the better use Brad Garrett as Herman as that will make it awesome.
