I never realized her sister committed suicide & her only son accidentally shot and killed himself. OMG! The poor woman.

She also endured two divorces (but has been married to hubby #3 for 25+ years). Not to mention her own health isn't the best because of her diabetes, and she is also a recovering alcoholic. (So is her former TV husband, Dick Van Dyke.) If there is one word I'd use to describe Mary Tyler Moore - it would be SURVIVOR!!!!!

She's inspiring because she has certainly had a lot of challenges thrown her way in life, but she keeps on going. I saw a quote from her once, "Three things have helped me through the ordeals of life; an understanding husband, a good analyst, and millions of dollars." (I think her inner strength and sense of humor must have helped, too.)
