George Lopez and his wife Ann Serrano are divorcing. They have been married for 17 years and have a 15-year-old daughter, Mayan.

TMZ reported the news a short time ago and now we have just received the official statement from Lopez's rep:

"George and Ann Lopez have made the decision to end their 17 year marriage. The decision is amicable and by mutual agreement. They remain dedicated parents, and committed partners in business and their philanthropic organization, The Lopez Foundation."

On Twitter, cracks are flying about whether he would get to keep his kidney, since Ann donated one of hers to him in 2005.

Meanwhile, here they are smiling for cameras together just last week at the Padres El Contra Cancer's 25th anniversary gala in Hollywood.

This is very sad news. And shame on those people who are making jokes about the kidney Ann donated to George. The end of a marriage is no joking matter. And neither is kidney disease.
