As far as I'm concerned, the show never really recovered from this episode (though to be honest, the show had really died without Bobby in the previous season, and I don't know how else they could have brought him back. As it was, they painted themselves into a corner. The pre-1985 Dallas was a classic show; post 1985, average at best).

I think the season in which Patrick Duffy came back was their last great season. After that it started on its decline, and by the time they got to the last two seasons, the show was a shadow of what it once had been.

My parents watched Dallas when it was originally on (my siblings and I were just wee little things). My mom called that episode the biggest cop-out on TV of all time!

Did the producers take the easy way out? Yes.

But I don't think they had much choice. What were the alternatives? Evil twin? Bobby was really alive -- the death was a fake? Bringing back Bobby was no-win situation creatively. Anything they'd done would have been scrutinized to death.

Bobby in the shower was a cop out!

Very disappointing!

They could have bring Bobby back another way.

I like how KL was able to keep Lisa Hartman on the show even after they killed her character. They were never scrutinized. I probably could have excepted any explanation other than a dream. Talk about being disappointed. I was so pumped up for that premiere and as soon as the show started it brought me down.
