For a cartoon, almost everything rests on the introduction. It’s got to be exciting, short, and introduce new watchers to the premise of the show. If you can pull them in with the opening, hopefully they’ll stay for the entire thing, which is why the intro often looks much, much better than the actual cartoon.

These 20 cartoons did this so much better than other, through amazing theme songs, awesome visuals, or just so much badassness, that they managed to stay in our heads for years.

i liked some of them and there were a few that left me going, 'no way!'.

Without even looking at the list, here are my top 20 favorites in no order of preference.........

Second Flintstones opening...standard
The Beatles Cartoons...all three openings featured real songs
The Jackson Five...actual music
The Osmonds....actual music
Huckleberry Hound
Yogi Bear
Magilla Gorilla
Bugs Bunny/Road Runner
Porky Pig with closing...(our favorite ham) at end they cry because show is over.
Quick Draw McGraw
The Jetsons
Pebbles & Bamm Bamm Show (original fast paced)
Wait Till Your Father Gets Home
The Banana Splits
Underdog
Tales Of The Wizard Of Oz
Top Cat
'69 Scooby Doo
Abbott & Costello Cartoon Show...yes it had a full opening
Help, Help, It's The Hair Bear Bunch

Great list! I love those 80's and 90's intros. Turtles is for sure a favorite, same with Darkwing Duck, Rescue Rangers and Ducktales.
