Default I Love Lucy in the 1990's

Hey, I was just wondering. What station did I Love Lucy air on in the 1990's besides Nick At Nite? I've seen it a couple times during that time but, I only remember seeing it on Nick At Night. Also, did The Lucy Show are during the 90's to? Also, when did TV Land start airing the show? I know now they only station it's on now is Hallmark. So, what other station did it come on during the 90's besides Nick? Does anybody know where I can find an old TV Guide from that decade? The years I'm curious about is 93, 94, and 95. Please let me know. Thanks.

TBS aired ILL in the early 1990s, but what time frame I don't know. I think TBS also aired TLS at one time in the early 1980s, but someone will need to confirm that for me.

Cool. What order did they air the episodes? Did they do them in airdate order or production order? I used to Mama's Family on that station back in the early 2000's and they aways had them in production order and sometimes thay'd skip episodes.

Where is Lucy now? I tuned in late morning and find Martha Stewart on Hallmark.

I'm not sure if "I Love Lucy" ran on any national cable/satellite networks in the 1990's, but I do know it aired on various local stations throughout the country. Here in the Chicago area, I Love Lucy ran throughout the 80's and 90's on WFLD-TV Fox 32. In 1995, they even aired on (I believe) Monday early Tuesday at 2 and 2:30am a show called "We Love Lucy" which was actually the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour split into two seperate half hour shows, with a different opening sequence and closing. That aired for at least a few years, if not more. Then, at least in the 2000's, they both moved to WPWR-TV, Channel 50.

As for Nick at Nite, I Love Lucy began airing on that station in 1994. What attracted viewers to the Nick at Nite prints was that the episodes were fully restored, and were ran in their complete duration (25 minutes). All of the other syndication prints up until Nick at Nite aired them were edited down for more commercials, and were old prints converted to broadcast quality videotape. TV LAND started airing I Love Lucy in 2001, and what attracted the public to these prints were A. It was the 50th Anniversary of I Love Lucy, and B. They restored, altered, and re-incorporated some of the vintage animation sequences back into the shows themselves. So instead of seeing a package of cigarettes that said "Phillip Morris," they altered it to look like an old time television set that had on it, "TVLAND PRESENTS, Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz, I Love Lucy, With Vivian Vance and William Frawley."

As for The Lucy Show, that began running on Nick at Nite in the 90's as well. I particularly remember it running in 1995 and 1996, because that is when I was taping episodes off Nick at Nite. After it stopped airing, a year or two later, it ended up in my area, being carried on WCIU-Channel 26 in Chicago. It has been on and off that station multiple times over the years. Then, when WCIU, WPWR, and WFLD banned together to make ME-TV (WMME), in the mid 2000's, they recarried it again for a while, but airing only one episode per week. As for The Lucy Show airing on TVLAND, I'm not sure it ever ran regularly on that network. I mean, I think it might have aired once or twice, but I don't remember it running on TVLAND regularly. I remember it mostly being on WCIU and ME-TV in Chicago.

Hope this helps.

Default During the '90s...

...."I LOVE LUCY" continued to appear on New York's Channel 5, which acqcuired the repeats after they finally left CBS in September 1967. The station changed its call letters from WNEW-TV to WNYW in 1986 [after Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation bought the station and other Metromedia assets, converting it into "Fox 5"], and eventually switched from 16mm film prints to edited videotape "masters" {courtesy of the syndicator, Viacom} by the end of the '80s. "LUCY" appeared on and off WNYW's daily schedule during most of the '90s, finally leaving the station for good by 2003 [I believe].
