I prefer the first season to the second and third, actually, for a lot of reasons. There's really only a handful of season 1 episodes that I find myself not watching again and again.

I guess if I had to pick, though, it'd be "Big Man on a Little Stick." For some reason I think Duke is hysterical. Ok, and "St. Gilligan and the Dragon." And the one with Dubov. And "Physical Fatness." And "The Matchmaker," but only Act 1, haha. I can't pick one.

But since you started the topic - what's your favorite?

Well,I've got a LOT of them-for example "President Gilligan",the one that introduced the castaways to Wrong Way Feldman, the where the Skipper lost his memory(This one was a good takeoff of "The Twilight Zone")-and at the end Gilligan lost HIS memory-the one where Gilligan breaks his nose, and others.

One of my favorites is when the Japanese Soldier arrives on the island,Especially funny was the ending when they all(The Professor,The Skipper, who says of the way the Japanese Soldier is driving his sub,"What's the matter with him?He acts like he's drunk!")Gilligan says "He's not drunk,Skipper,(Looking like soldier )"He no have glasses on!"Ah so.

I liked the followup episode where they all gave their own version of events, making themselves out to be the hero.

I like pretty much all of the 1st season shows. Being in black and white, their hut was more primative looking, they had shows dealing with finding food and water, more outdoor location shots; all these factors give the 1st season a very unique charm that I don't see in the later 2 seasons.

But, were I to pick a favorite, I'd say the episodes dealing with Wrongway Feldman; you just can't go wrong with Hans Conried.

I like the first season episodes the best.Very good scenery showing a real island, good stories, good production, just not silly like the 3rd season got.
All of them are good no favourites but i really like the revised pilot with the proffessor and mary ann.Glad Sherwood canned those other 2 characters.

For whatever reason, with some 1960's sitcoms that have episodes in both black and white and color, when the switch to color was made the shows got silly and cartoony.

I think one reason that made Gilligan's Island popular is that the characters of Gilligan and the Skipper borrow from Laurel and Hardy. Bob Denver's Gilligan character has similarities to Stan Laurel, and Alan Hale as the skipper has mannerisms very similar to Oliver Hardy.

I agree with most of the posts here.I think all the black and white episodes were good. I would also pick the 1st of the 2 episodes with the Japanese sailor ,and the other episode with Dubov as standing out. Both very funny. Also agree that the outdoor location shots on the black and white episodes added alot.Although when Gilligans Island started the color episodes, the colors are brilliant. So many shows filmed in the mid 60s in color looked so good, the colors are as brilliant as a top technicolor movie.

I love "Music Hath Charms" and have always found it funny. Whenever the natives are involved, it is hysterical. "I am the god of light!" "It's that square on the triangle!" The whole thing is just so funny.
