Movie Reviews: Easy A
Judging from some of the critical raves, Easy A could turn out to be one of those low-budget films, tossed out between theatrical seasons with little expectation for success, which nevertheless becomes a sleeper hit In the Chicago Sun-Times, Roger Ebert calls it: “a funny, engaging comedy that takes the familiar but underrated Emma Stone and makes her, I believe, a star.” Likewise Carrie Rickey in the Philadelphia Inquirer says that the movie ought to make Stone’s “career — and you — laugh out loud.” Stephen Holden in the New York Times refers to Stone’s “irresistible presence” in the movie. Elizabeth Weitzman forecasts in the New York Daily News: “Expect to hear much more about Emma Stone.” And Joe Morgenstern concludes in the Wall Street Journal that the movie: “catapults Emma Stone into a higher place reserved for American actors who can handle elevated language with casually dazzling aplomb.” Other critics have no reluctance to go all hyperbolic over the movie itself. “Uproarious,” Lou Lumenick calls it in the New York Post. Claudia Puig in USA Today gives it four A’s for “apt, amusing, audacious, amazing.” And Linda Barnard in the Toronto Star adds yet another. “A,” she writes, “is for awesome.” -IMDB News |

I saw this yesterday and it was pretty good overall. It was a bit predictable.
