The man has been touring with Alice Cooper these last few months and supervising the construction of the "House of 1000 Corpses" maze at Halloween Horror Nights in Los Angeles.

When the tour is over, Zombie has stated that he'll return to filmmaking, but what the hell is it going to be?

So do I.

Since he mentioned it's new I guess it rules out some of his other rumored in-the-pipeline projects; T-Rex, Werewolf Women of the SS, The Blob remake...

I love his original stuff but hated the Halloweens, so hopefully this will be good.

Breaking News: Rob Zombie's The Lords of Salem
Wednesday, September 22, 2010
By: MrDisgusting

After a few days of extreme patience, the news is out on rob Zombie's next horror project.

Deadline reports that Zombie has committed to make The Lords of Salem his next directorial outing.

The film has been put together by Haunted Films, the company run by the Paranormal Activity and Insidious team of Jason Blum, Steven Schneider and Oren Peli.

Andy Gould (producer on all of Zombie's films) also produces with Jeremy Platt co-producing.

The thriller is set in contemporary Salem, where the inhabitants receive a demonic visit from a 300-year old coven of witches.

Zombie will write the script while on his upcoming concert tour circuit, and will shoot next year. Zombie told the site he originally hatched the Salem premise several years ago, but started stirring the cauldron again when he changed his plan to direct a remake of The Blob.

Rob Zombie Lords of Salem Movie Update
by Gregory Burkart
Oct. 8, 2010

A few weeks ago we passed along the first slivers of news about Rob Zombie's next confirmed feature film project, The Lords of Salem.

In a recent interview with Billboard magazine, Rob divulged a few more details about the movie – which, as you may already know, is being produced by the folks behind Paranormal Activity.

In the Billboard interview, Zombie declared Lords of Salem his next “big project on the horizon”... assuming he survives an incredibly loaded fall schedule which includes:

- his “Halloween Hootenanny” tour with Alice Cooper and Murderdolls
- the release of the Special Edition of Hellbilly Deluxe
- a new Icon release spanning his early career
- a new “House of 1000 Corpses in 3-D ZombieVision” Halloween attraction for Universal Studios.

According to Rob, the Paranormal Activity producers approached him with an eye toward working together. “I didn't even have an idea at the time,” he admitted.

They were like, 'If you want to make a movie, if you have an idea we will give you complete control over casting, the script, the final cut of the picture – everything. You never heard that. Nobody hears that.

Everything's a battle, but these guys were like, 'That'll be our deal with you.' And I was like, 'Great!'

The story Rob eventually pitched comes from an idea originally touched on in his 2006 song of the same name, and involves a group of executed 17th-century witches returning to present-day Salem to seek revenge.

I grew up in Massachusetts, so the Salem witch trials and all that was always very prevalent,” he explained. “Even when I was a little kid, you take a school field trip and go to Salem to the witch museums and watch re-enactments of the witch trials. I always found it fascinating.

Rob is writing the script now, and hopes to go into production next spring.

He also hinted that his current band lineup might be creating original music for the film: “I've been thinking about the music in this movie early, early on,” he revealed.

We'll probably do the score this time out... not rock music, but a score. I know I want music to play a large role.

Rob Zombie Talks Lords of Salem
Source: List.co.uk
February 15, 2011

Touting his UK tour, Rob Zombie spoke to The List recently and gave them an update on Lords of Salem, which he's directing for the Paranormal Activity team.

"I'm going to probably start pre-production in March, hopefully I'll shoot it around June and that's the next movie," Zombie said, "and as far as the next musical project I'm not sure, I'd like to get another album out early next year and hit the road again, on another full tour."

He goes on to add: "Lords of Salem is an original idea, it's a new thing, it's something I've been working on. I grew up in Massachusetts, so the Salem Witch Trials was something that figured in big as a kid. Even as a kid they'd take you to the Witch Museum. And that might have something to do with the things that I like.

It's based on historical fact about the Salem Witch Trials and their modern day repercussions, so the film takes place in modern times but it's a witch movie.

Rob Zombie Reveals More on Lords of Salem
Monday, February 21, 2011
By: MrDisgusting

"Inspired by the Salem witch trials, the film won't be a period piece, but will sport a prologue set in 1692. There were twenty people that everyone knows about - obviously all innocent - executed as witches in Salem," explains Rob.

"The basic premise of the film is that there were a further four who actually were witches, who were killed secretly, and vowed one day to return to wreak havoc on Salem's descendants. That's when the movie jumps ahead to the present day and things start to go wrong..."

"'Lords of Salem' is probably the bleakest of all my films," Rob adds. "It's only gonna get worse!"

For the First Time, We've Got the Extended Plot Details for Rob Zombie's Lords of Salem
Source: Ryan Turek, Managing Editor
May 5, 2011

Until now, only a few details have been released about Rob Zombie's Lords of Salem, his fifth feature film which will begin rolling soon.

The plot has been relegated to a few sentences that teased a radio DJ, a cursed record and a bunch of witches terrorizing Salem, Massachusetts.

Well, we've landed - and pretty much had to re-type out - an extended synopsis you Zombie fans should enjoy. It gives you a taste of who the film's protagonists are. Read on!

Heidi, a blond rock chick, DJs at a local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the "Big H Radio Team."

A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, a gift of the Lords. She assumes it's a rock band on a mission to spread to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lord's record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.

Later, White plays the Lord's record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with his listeners.

The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon, Heidi and her cohorts is far from the rock spectacle they're expecting.

The original Lords or Salem are returning and they're out for blood.

Lords of Salem A Change of Pace for Zombie
Source: Billboard
May 18, 2011

From the sound of it, Rob Zombie actually won't start shooting Lords of Salem until late summer.

The writer-director is going on tour very soon and when he returns, filming will commence on his latest feature.

He told Billboard, in a recent interview, that he's expecting the production schedule to bleed into 2012, which obviously means we won't be seeing the Lords reign on screen this year.

He also touched on the tone of the film: "I'm very excited about this one. It's a very different film. It's more of a slow, psychological burn as opposed to a physically violent kind of movie."

Rob Zombie Explains The Lords of Salem Delay
Monday, May 23, 2011
By: MrDisgusting

Over the past few weeks Rob Zombie has been answering fan questions on his official blog page.

"At this time there are no plans to use any CGI in LORDS. I am not a fan of it although I think it can be very effective it used in very subtle ways. But no one uses it that way.

To me most live action films are basically turning into animated films. I also think even great actors come off as stiff and awkward when shot on a green screen.
"

He states that the delay in shooting is to get the FX work up to speed:

"We have begun working, but not shooting yet. This is a very practical FXs heavy film, so that department has been working for awhile building insane sh*t.

I will start after the summer. No one is on board yet but casting will start very soon.
"

Cool, Revealing FX Shots from Zombie's Lords of Salem
Source: Rob Zombie
June 1, 2011

Rob Zombie posted some FX shots this morning that appear to be a glimpse at the witches who will appear in his upcoming Lords of Salem.

What you're looking at is a torso sculpt sitting in the shop of Wayne Toth. I presume it's a witch torso, although Zombie labeled the files for these photos as "Satan chest."

"What the F is Wayne Toth working on now?," Zombie said on his blog today.

"More nasty business for Lords. And to answer your questions... YES! There will be a lot of tits in the film as seen in the pics below."

Pics contain monster nudity. Click below to view:
