Default What shows do you love some episodes and absolutely hate others?

Two come to mind for me. Little House on the Prairie and Gomer Pyle.

I love the funny episodes of Little House. My favorite is the one where Laura thought she saw Mr.Oleson chop off his wife's head! That one is great! There are plenty others that have a mix of funny stuff and serious stuff that I like a lot. However, there are a few that I cannot watch. I hate the super serious ones! I hate the one where the baby burns up. I hate the one where Albert is on drugs.

Gomer Pyle.... I love the episodes that deal with military life such as the ones with military war games or the one where they had to survive in the woods for a few days and Gomer and Sgt.Carter came back weighing more than when they left! I love the one where they went on the Naval ship and Gomer captured a submarine.

I absolutely hate the ones that feature Gomer's singing or any of the ones with Louanne Poovey! I turn it off right away!

The Waltons: I like the ones from Seasons 1-7 (1972-79), but I hate the ones for 8 and 9 after Cousin Rose and her grandchildren (which should have been gone after one episode) replaced Olivia.

The Wonder Years: I like the ones from the junior high school seasons (1988-91, or 1968-71 depending on how you look at it), but I hate the ones from the last two after Kevin moved on to high school--and ABC brought on a writer I thought was inferior; he turned Kevin into a bad guy.

Totally agree on The Wonder Years, never watched The Waltons.

The Andy Griffith Show they were so good when they had Don Knotts. Once he left and the show went to color, the comedy left two. I cant stand the seasons without Barney Fife.

The Jeffersons The first four seasons they got a good start, but when that show went bad, it went bad. Its pretty unwatchable after 1979.

I have a hard time watching the 1982-1983 episodes of Happy Days without Joanie and Chachi. It perked back up a bit in its final season.

I don't really like the Dick Sargent years of Bewitched, everyone seems so bored with the doing the show by then

The Simpsons - I loved the earlier episodes slightly better than the newer ones b/c the older ones were more funnier and written better. The newer ones seemed too adventurous and not as funny as the earlier seasons.

Silver Spoons - For some reason I enjoyed the later seasons over the early seasons. While I liked the early seasons for nonstalgic value with the arcades and train in the living room, the later episdoes were written better (IMO).

Perry Mason-Season one-some season one episodes were better than others.I loved the series from seasons 2-9 2) Leave it to Beaver-Seasons one and two I did not like. From season 3-6,I did like it. 3)Matlock-For the most part,I liked the NBC shows(1986-1992).The ABC episodes ,however (1992-1995)despite some good ones, left a lot to be desired. 4)My Three Sons-When the series was set in Bryant Park,it was very good. However, when they moved to California, it went downhill slowly and gradually.

And I forgot :On "Bewitched",during the Dick York as Darrin years,I liked seasons one(black and white),two(black and white)and third(color). But I did NOT like seasons 4 and 5 ,because, with the exception of some good ones,it became kind of boring when Larry threatened to fire Darrin(Dick York)in almost every episode. And I did NOT like the episodes without Darrin(Dick York),or ,although I tried watching them, the latter ones with Dick Sargent as Darrin. 2) And finally,"Gilligan's Island"-I liked the black and white first season shows, with the nice tropical theme(why they changed it,I'll NEVER know),because Gilligan WASN'T for the most part, portrayed as such a boob.In second season, until the end,the color episodes, with the theme that sounded like a military march, and with a few exceptions,Gilligan became a stupid, bufoonish cartoon ,and I did not like the seres then.

I love those ones too but which writer was it and can you give examples of how he made Kevin look like a bad guy?

The writer was Greg Beeman (sp?), and there were the following plots:

1. Kevin stealing the rival school mascot (first episode, 1992-93)

2. Kevin bragging to the guys in the locker room about Winnie being at his place (Ep. 99, "White Lies")

3. Kevin repeatedly forgetting to get something for Jack (shower curtains?) after associating with Jeff Billings

4. Kevin joining the wrestling team (of all things!)

I mean, how out of character were those things???

I forgot about Happy Days. I like the first three seasons, but after that it started to bore me. I have to admit I never cared for the whole Joanie and Chachi thing.

I have to admit I must be one of the few people who like the Dick Sargent years of Bewitched, even though a good part of the last season is pretty unwatchable.

Another two I would throw on this list are Taxi. The first few seasons were good, but towards the end I lost interest.

My Three Sons most of this is good but the last two seaons were hit or miss. I never really liked the Doddie character, and the last season Don Grady was pretty much gone.

Yeah, you're right! Season 6 was soooo weird. That first episode was the one with Wart coming back from the army and just being totally stunned during that football game. That was one of the weirdest episodes of the show. How about that one where they tried to see the Rolling Stones and nothing happened hahah. Or how about the one where the family goes to stay at Norma's parents place. Also, an awkward episode. Just the sixth season in general had a different feel to it. I still like some of the episodes but they were more poorly written and just some of the plotlines were very odd.

In some other thread where we were discussing Wonder Years, remember how I said season 6 was when it began to jump the shark? You were saying how it didn't end properly and was cancelled too soon. Would you really want to see these season 6-like storylines continue when they obviously just had no plot anymore.

In a way, yes. I wouldn't have minded more "season 6-like storylines" in order to see Kevin graduate from McKinley! I didn't like it ending before graduation! (Hey, ANYTHING would have done it justice!)

Of course, they could have brought back Neal Marlens and Carol Black since the show they were working on, The Jackie Thomas Show (a spinoff of Roseanne) was canceled, and we would have had episodes as golden as the junior high years.
