Now, I never saw this show, or don't remember much about it. However, I do know that Lucy played a widow and Vivian played a divorcee. Was this an indirect slap at both Desi Arnaz and William Frawley?

No, because it was loosely based on a novel by Irene Kampen (based on her life)--in the book, both women are divorcees'.

Besides, Desi was the original executive producer of the series when it first started. I highly doubt he would slap himself.
