Frasier Fanfic - Roz Plays Cupid

[Family Ties Forever!]

I wrote this in June.
*I don't own the show Frasier or any of the characters.

Roz Plays Cupid:

(I think this could fit into season 6 perhaps?)

Roz enters Cafe Nervosa. She sees Frasier, Niles, Daphne and Martin sitting at a table. She goes over to them.

Roz: Hi guys. You won't believe it, but I just met the most gorgeous guy!
Niles: So what does that makes now? Man # 2,865?
Roz: Shows how much you know. I don't think every man I meet is attractive.
Niles: Well, I guess that eliminates the ones without a pulse.
Roz: Shut up you ninny!
Daphne: So tell us about this guy.
Roz: Well, he's gorgeous as I mentioned. He looks great in leather.

Frasier and Niles roll their eyes.

Roz: I thought that if it doesn't work out with him, perhaps you might like to go out with him Daphne.
Niles: (alarmed) You can't expect Daphne to date some guy who dresses in clothing that should only be used as apollstery in a car! I mean those substandard standards might work on you, but Daphne's way to intelligent to fall for someone like that.
Daphne: Actually, it sounds kind of interesting.

Niles looks dumbfounded.

Martin: He's a nice guy right?
Roz: Oh yeah!
Frasier: I have a feeling that's a loaded answer.

The guy in the leather outfit comes in.

Roz: Derrick hi!
Derrick: Hi Roz.

He comes over to the table.

Roz: Everyone this is Derrick.

She smiles.

Roz: You know, his friends call him Dare Devil.
Niles: Is that because he's been out with you?

Roz hits Niles on the arm. Frasier, Martin and Daphne all say hi to Derrick.

Daphne: So do you live here in Seattle?
Derrick: Well, I was just here on vacation, but after meeting Roz I think I might hang around.

Derrick smiles and both Roz and Daphne sort of melt under his gaze.

Frasier: Well, Niles we better get going if we're going to make it to the squash game.
Niles: Yeah, I think I've seen enough here.
Frasier: Dad, you want us to give you a ride home on the way?
Martin: Sure.

Frasier, Niles and Martin exit. Roz, Daphne and Derrick chat for a little while. Derrick gets up to go to the bathroom.

Daphne: Well, he's a fine catch. Make sure to let me know if you decide you don't like him.

Just then another really attractive guy comes into Cafe Nervosa.

Roz: Wow! Now I wouldn't mine hearing about his life story esp. if it's followed by a night cap.
Daphne: Roz, what about Derrick?
Roz: Tell you what, I'll put in a good word for you with him. I'll see if I can get you a date with him.

Roz wanders off to meet the new guy. Derrick returns from the bathroom.

Derrick: Where's Roz?
Daphne: Well, she's sort of busy at the moment.
Derrick: Oh. Well, maybe I should leave then.
Daphne: No! I mean, stay, I'm sure she'll be right back. Besides we can chat.

Before they can really talk much at all Niles comes running into Cafe Nervosa.

Daphne: Dr. Crane. What are you doing here? I thought you and your brother were going to play squash.
Niles: It was....cancelled.
Daphne leans over and whispers in Niles' ear: I was just about to have a conversation with Derrick.
Niles: But, I thought I could talk to you.
Daphne: Why?

Niles looks a little dejected. He goes over to Roz.

Niles: Roz, what are you doing? You're supposed to be with Derrick.
Roz: Daphne can have him.
Niles: But, he's all wrong for her!
Roz: Why?
Niles: Because Daphne is a goddess. She deserves to be treated to the finest things in life and be with a wonderful, intelligent, caring man who adores her.
Roz: You act like you want her.

Niles doesn't answer.

Roz: Oh My God! You want Daphne. I'm going to set you two up.

Roz rushes over to Daphne.

Roz: Daphne you can't go out with Derrick.
Daphne: And why bloody not?
Roz: Because you should go out with Niles.
Derrick: (interrupts) I don't want to go out with you Daphne. I want to go out with Roz.

Daphne looks both hurt and shocked. Roz goes gets Niles and brings him over to Daphne

Roz: Niles tell Daphne.
Niles (hesitates)
Roz: Don't be shy tell her.
Niles: Daphne, I would like to go out with you.

Daphne is speechless.

Daphne: Dr. Crane, I...
Roz: Give him a chance Daphne. One date, if it doesn't work then at least you'll know.

Niles looks like he's waiting on pins and needles for Daphne's reply.

Daphne: I suppose we could try a date, but I'm not exactly good enough for you. You're so refined and educated. Why would you want to settle for me?.
Niles: Believe me Daphne it wouldn't be settling. You're the most beautiful, wonderful, vibrant woman I know. Any man would be lucky to be with you.

Daphne smiles.

Roz: That settles it. Now you two just need to pick a place for your date. I knew one of these days playing cupid would work.

Roz smiles

Niles: It's like a dream. I don't want to ever wake up.

OK, when Niles told Daphne it wouldn't be settling, I literally squealed. (I swear, I am way too into these two!) But anyway, thanks for posting these two N/D stories. They're both really well-done!
