Frasier Fanfic - The Fight Before Christmas (Missing Scene)

I wrote this fan fiction in May.
*I don't own the show Frasier or any of the characters.

This fan fiction takes place in the episode The Fight Before Christmas. It's the 'missing' scene.

Everyone has gone home. Martin heads to bed.

Frasier: Daphne, are you alright? You seemed a little quiet at the party.
Daphne: I'm-- I'm fine, really.
Frasier; Are you sure?
Daphne: Yes.
Frasier; Alright then. I'm off to bed.

Frasier exists.

Daphne is sitting on the couch when the doorbell rings.

Daphne: Who could that be?

Daphne goes and answers the door.

Daphne: Dr. Crane.
Niles; Hi Daphne.
Daphne: What are you doing here?
Niles: I forgot my cellphone.
Daphne: Oh, I see.

Niles begins to look for the cellphone. He doesn't see it in the living room so he goes to the kitchen. Daphne follows after him. Niles looks around. Daphne spots the phone. Niles continues to look for the phone. Daphne's back is toward Niles.

Niles: I can't imagine where my phone could have gone.

Niles notices Daphne is just standing not facing him.

Niles: Daphne.

Daphne turns around clutching the cellphone.

Niles: That's great you found it!

Daphne just stares at Niles.

Niles: Daphne? Are you ok? Can I have my cellphone?

As if coming out of a trance Daphne nods and simultaneously drops Niles' phone. It breaks into a few pieces when it hits the floor.

Daphne: Oh no! Bloody hell! I'm so sorry Dr. Crane!

Tears fill Daphne's eyes. Alarmed Niles comes over to Daphne.

Niles: Daphne, it's ok. I can buy another one. Don't worry about it.
Daphne: But--

Niles touches Daphne's arm. He feels something between them. He looks at Daphne.

Niles: Daphne, please tell me what's wrong.

Daphne suddenly blurts out:

Daphne; I know!
Niles: (nervous) You know what?
Daphne: I know about your feelings for me.
Niles: You do?
Daphne: Yes. I know that you're with Mel now, so you might not feel that way anymore.

Daphne looks at the floor where the cell phone, in pieces, still lay.

Daphne: I made such a bloody mess out of things.
Niles: Don't be silly. You're perfect.
Daphne: Try telling my mum that.
Niles: Daphne, I'm sorry. I know I have put you in a terrible position. I can't expect you to love me back.

Daphne inwardly gasps.

Daphne: You're in love with me?
Niles: Yes.
Daphne: I think I--

Niles starts hyperventilating.

Daphne: Are you alright?

Niles nods.

Niles: Can I dare dream that you might like me in return?

Caught up by emotions Daphne nods. Niles promptly faints.

Daphne; Dr. Crane! Dr. Crane! Wake up! Are you ok?
Niles: I'm deliriously great! So you might just like me after all?
Daphne: Yes.
Niles: I've spent the last seven years hoping that one day my dream would become reality.

Daphne smiles. They both stand up.

Niles: I want to take you out on a date. Will you go out with me?
Daphne; Dr. Crane--
Niles: Call me Niles. (grins)
Daphne: Ok, Niles.

Great story, Jenny! I'm working my way through S7 on DVD, so I saw this one the other day. If things had gone like this in the show, it would've saved the audience a lot of frustration. LOL. You captured Daphne's voice perfectly. I was hearing Jane in my head the whole time.
