Current New Orleans Saint Reggie Bush to Accomplish Something Never Done in 75 Years!

Reggie Bush, who has been a star with the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, will likely have his Heisman Trophy--which he won while playing for the USC Trojans--taken away from him, Yahoo! Sports reports in an exclusive story.

"Two sources close to the Heisman trust said the body’s investigation is coming to a close, and will ultimately concur with the NCAA’s determination that Bush was ineligible during his Heisman-winning season in 2005. Because of that independent conclusion, sources said the trust will relieve Bush of the award and leave the honor for that season vacant," the article notes.

According to the story, the Heisman trust has been looking into this matter since "the NCAA ruled in June that the USC star had committed multiple violations by accepting cash, gifts and other impermissible benefits while playing for the Trojans."

The Trojans have historically been one of the most popular college football teams in the nation, and a good draw on TV. Because of the Bush violations, the Trojans are on four years of probation, from June 10, 2010, through June 9, 2014, and are banned from postseason football play for the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

The NCAA is a joke. USC get's 2 years probation and Pete Carroll is in the NFL and Reggie Bush is in the NFL too. Do they really care? Reggie has a SB ring. I couldn't even tell you the names of the recent Heisman trophy winners. Maybe I'm biased after what they did to the terps in the early 90's. They practically gave the basketball team the death penalty for minor violations and the players that had nothing to do with it were punished. Then I see other teams do worse and get practically nothing. I have no respect for them at all.

That's the problem with these long term investigations into college sports violations. By the time the investigation is complete and the punishment is meted out the parties that actually committed the offenses are long gone. So you get innocent people being punished for offenses that were committed by the predecessors. They either need to find a way to do these investigations much quicker or find a way to punish those who are actually guilty of the offense!

They could start by banning or suspending coaches that do this. If Pete Carroll flops in the NFL he is free to return to College sports, while USC is still on probation. That's not fair. Players that had nothing to do with it shouldn't have to pay for others misdeeds. And the NCAA is not consistent. Some teams get hammered good while others don't.
