Heart Bob & Emily Hartley: One of TV's Most Mismatched Couples???

http://my-retrospace.blogspot.com/20...usible-tv.html

Bob Newhart is a successful psychiatrist with a razor sharp dry wit; this adds tome bonus points with the ladies, I’m sure. But Suzanne Pleshette? Come on. Next you’re gonna tell me Bosley was makin’ it with all three Angels...

I thought Bob and Emily were a good match. Dagwood and Blondie Bumstead, Darrin and Samantha Stevens were all a good pair.
Bosley wasnt married to any of the Angels so I dont know where that comparison comes in. If Bosley was to do an Angel my prediction would be Kris.

Oh No

This is just superficial - Bob and Emily LOVED each other...a love that had nothing to do with looks. Plus, it was implied on more than once that the Hartleys had a very healthy life in the bedroom.

Besides, Bob was a PSYCHOLOGIST, not a psychiatrist. Did the guy who wrote that blurb ever really WATCH the show?

I thought Bob Newhart and Suzanne Pleshette were well matched together as TV husband and wife. To me one of the best TV husband and wife in the 70s. One TV wife of his out of the three were horribly matched was him with Carlene Watkins on his last series Bob. Many housewives complained that she was way too young to be his wife so there were not a lot of scenes of them together. Him and Mary Frann were ok on Newhart but it was him and Suzanne had it going on.

To me the worst couples on TV was:
Willie and Kate Tanner of ALF
Walter and Maude Findley of Maude

The couples where there was an obvious age difference but were compatible were: Tom and Abby Bradford of Eight Is Enough, Henry and Muriel Rush of Too Close for Comfort, and Ted and Georgette Baxter of The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

This guy that wrote the blog must not have seen quite a few episodes of anything. George Jetson was not fat. Bob and Emily made the perfect TV couple. Samantha and Darrin also were a good couple.

Wow! I wish Suzanne got to wear low-cut outfits like that on the series...! My eyes just about popped out of their sockets..

LOL! That was my first thought too when I read the article.

I always thought Bob and Emily were perfectly matched but of course the fact that Bob was no George Clooney was obvious and they were physically mis-matched but I thought they used it well on the show. I can remember a few episodes where they had Bob in a short robe and they made fun of his chicken legs I always liked that they didn't ignore the fact that Bob was not as physically blessed as Emily and were able to poke fun at it. Otherwise it would have been the elephant in the room.
