Default Favorite Sam and Diane office scenes!!

Hello everyone! So one of the main parts of Cheers in seasons 1-5 are the office scenes between Sam and Diane! These scenes were typically the cornerstone of the show and more often than not were the scenes where the resolution of the episode took place. Here are my top 11 Sam and Diane office scenes...enjoy. I would love to hear your feedback but if not than sit back, relax and enjoy the ChambersvsMalone memories!

11. Season 3: Rebound Part 2 - Amazingly funny scene. Sam and Diane tell each other that they are over one another. Seriously great and funny scene. It was also nice to see them laughing and sharing a light hearted moment with one another. Especially after the tension of the season 2 finale.

10. Season 4: I'll Gladly Pay You Tuesday - Really funny scene where we got to see the extreme sides of both characters come out. This actually reminded me of something that would have been on I Love Lucy back in the day. great scene and great acting! It may be just me but I think Ted and Shelley's chemistry was REALLY palpable in the last two seasons that Shelley was on the show...really great!

9. Season 2: How Do I Love Thee...Let Me Call You Back - Sam and Diane cannot seem to figure out why they are together; Sam says it's because he lo- her! So sweet! I feel it really describes their relationship in the second season really well.

8. Season 5: Everyone Imitates Art - Sam finally admitted to Diane that he stole "his" poem from one of her letters. The dynamic between Ted and Shelley is palpable here...you can really tell the true feelings of these characters toward one another. Also, you can tell how far the two of them have come since the first season in this season: from Diane's clothing to Sam's eventual surrender to Diane at the very end and the simple fact that he kept her letters was so sweet of him to do!!!

7. Season 1: How Do I Love Thee - Diane tells the story about her cat (Shelley's acting is INCREDIBLE here BTW. Her transition from a dramatic and sad moment to a mad and comedic moment with Sam is flawless) and her and Sam have a moment...until Sam (as usual) ruins it. Then they get into a big argument which sets the bar for the next five years. One of the first main office scenes with Sam and Diane. I LOVE this scene because to me it has all of the elements that make a Sam and Diane scene great: their undeniable chemistry, Diane's intelligence matched with Sam's wit and of course an awesome verbal fight between the two of them that makes this scene gold.

6. Season 3: I Call Your Name - Awesome revenge on Diane's part in this scene! Also probably a great reassurance to Diane that Sam is definitely NOT over her...nor she him. It was great to see them together again in this scene!

5. Season 1: Any Friend of Diane's - The ENTIRE office scene here (especially the part where they are pretending to be together...greatness!!!)! At this point in the series you really get the sense that the two characters have really found their footing. The loving nicknames they called each other by were particularly a hoot!

4. Season 4: Don Juan is Hell - Possibly one of the heaviest sexual tension and ,to me, one of the most underrated office scenes. The entire first part is really touching. With Diane attempting to assure Sam of the exaggerated voice of her report. Then when he asks her to sit on his lap, she reluctantly obliges. What follows is a hilariously, sexual innuendo filled conversation in which Ted and Shelley's chemistry TAKES OVER the scene. One of the Greatest IMO.

3. Season 5: One Last Fling - The office scenes both in the beginning and middle of this episode are winners. But the one at the end particularly kills. Great, great, great writing, acting and directing. I still can watch that scene and be amazed at the way that it was executed. Seriously. Such a fun scene it must have been to perform...AWESOME!!!

2. Season 2: Personal Business - Another completely underrated office scene. The ending with the two of them discussing how they should temporarily stop sleeping together was hysterical. Ted was amazing in this scene and if you watch really closely you can tell that Shelley is trying her darndest not to laugh. It is another one of the early episodes in their relationship so it's just a giggle inducing scene. Once again, the chemistry between Ted and Shelley is what makes this scene so great.

1. Season 1: Show Down Part 2 - AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!!! This might just be one of my favorite scenes period. IMO, one of the most classic scenes on TV ever! The dialogue is fantastic right up until the end, the comedy is there and also the acting is SUPERB! The fight sequence is phenomenal and has been used as a clip of Cheers many times ( I saw this scene before I even knew what show it was from) and as many times as I have seen it the sheer brilliance of the scene never escapes me. Really reminds me of a theatre production which = awesomeness!!!

So what are some of your favorites?

Off-hand, I would say you got most of them.

Your number 1 also includes the single best & biggest laugh in Cheers history: when Sam open ths door and 20 people are eavesdropping.

I would add the last scene in season 4's, "Take My Shirt, Please'" when Sam, after the PBS shirt auction, fishes for a reason to explode at Diane, and Diane cheerfully obliges, demonstrating a growing friendship.

I also love the office seen in the episode "A ditch in time" when Diane went over all the wrong things that Sam did during their relationship.

To the OP --- and all the ones you mentioned they were so on point and true.

Oh and don't forget "Triangle".

I never get tired of watching the Diane years 1-5. Oh how I love that show.

I have to agree with you whole heartily on this one. One thing that always puzzles me about this one was when Diane, Sam and the audience started laughing when she said "Oh but my apt. is so filthy". She could not stop laughing and I always wonder was that was so funny...I think I have an idea but I am not sure..lol Any insight?

"Diane? Do you realize you just ended that proposition with a preposition?"

Though only a dream, it was a great scene in Diane's Nightmare.
Classic.

"An unexamine life is not worth living". I can practically repeat every line from Diane from season 1-5. I wish she had spent two years on the show.

Cape Cod: All of a sudden I went blank on this one, but it went something like this " I see you still have a way with word". That line was so frigging funny.
