Default Elly May's Age

I remember that Granny used to lie about Elly May's age when Gentleman callers came around.
It think it was something like 13?

Can anyone help me with this?

I think Granny mentioned her age in one scene in the pilot. I'll watch it on my DVD of "The Ultimate Collection" and let you know.

I believe it's mentioned she's 18 in one of the early episodes.

On The Beverly Hillbillies original cast LP record album, from the period, Milburn Drysdale says, "Elly May is such a beautiful girl. I wonder why she's not married." Granny replies, "She's 18--she's too old!"

Wasn't Donna Douglas like 40 by the time the show ended?

Donna was 10 years older than Ellie May. I always thought she was too old for the part. The character of hers and Jetho's never had an arc of development to it. I agreed with Max Baer when he said no to a reunion. No one wants to see a 50 year old Jethro.

I dont think her age on the show was ever specifically mentioned, I would assume about 20. BUt I don't think her real life age matters as long as she LOOKS the part and plays it well and to me she DID.

That's what acting is all about playing something you're not.

Douglas born September 26, 1933. TBH premiered September 26, 1962, Douglas' 29th birthday. She was almost 38 when the show ended.

I don't think she mentioned the age specifically. I've watched the eppi hundreds of times and I'm pretty sure she doesn't.

Granny mentions she's almost 18 in Pygmalion and Elly (#1.10).

I thought she was 15 in the pilot. Jethro was 16.

If I'm remembering correctly, in one of the later episodes, I think the one where Drysdale makes Dash pretend to be a farmer, Granny mentions that Elly is fixing to turn 20, while talking about how they've lived there 7 years and she still hasn't found a husband. But that contradicts the way she's portrayed in season 1, so I'd guess she was originally 18 or a little bit younger (in I think one of the Sonny episodes Granny says she's "crowding 18"). There's also some episodes that mention how long Jed's been a widower, which I think should be the same as Elly's age, but I don't remember what the number was - just that it made things more confusing :P
