Why people confused the mother on this show with the one on That's My Mama???? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

My called me to tell me turn to the movie-"THE WIZ" So I can the mother from That's my Mama. I turned to the Wiz and it was Mabel not the mother from That's my Mama. How do people get them confused?

Mael King was TALL and FAT and Theresa Merrit was SHORT and FAT???

I guess I can see a little resemblance.....although, Mabel King was a bigger star than Theresa Merritt.

Theresa ddn't have a pretty face, Mabel on the otherhand did have one

well, since I haven't seen both shows in YEARS (since they first aired on-I think it was NBC? Or was it CBS?) I couldn't tell you.

I already mentioned this on another board but even certain sitcom writers got the two of them confused. There's an episode of The Wayans Bros. where Marlon makes a That's My Mama referrence and then Pops says something about Mabel King.

Wow! I thought I was the only one. LOL. When I was nine, I saw the Wiz for the first time. I was looking for Mabel King in the movie and gave up on looking for her and decided that Aunt Em was her. LOL. Wow!
