Default The Liberation of Marcia Brady - 02/12/71

The opening shot is from Vote for Brady and you can see Greg and his friends still looking for votes.

Is that a new clock in the family room and will it be there next week?

During the close up of Marcia in the family room when she is standing up with have the wood pannelled wall but we should have a plain wall that matches the plain wall where we moments later see her unhook the tv. A shot of Marcia, as she exits the wideshot with the boys, is reveresed to give the impression she is looking down towards the socket. Note that the picture behind her is now on the other side.

The close up shot of the tv has the curtain behind it. From where the tv is we should at least get part of the plain wall in shot.

When the girls enter their room everthing is topsy-turvey. Jans bed should be level with Marcias but isn't as it is at a slight angle. In Jans close ups it is flat against the wall. It is also too far away from the wall with the window as a sidetable with lamp is visible between the side of Jans bed and the fourth wall where the camera is.

There is a hamper at the end of Jans bed for Cindy to luckily be able to sit on however, for Cindys close up we see the end of her bed and a chest of drawers. We should really see the head of her bed and the side table next to it.

Later, in the boys room we do get to see the correct wall behind Greg in his close up at the side of his bed but it is at an angle and you can see a chair on the right side of the screen. The side of Gregs bed where the fourth wall is should be flush with said wall.

During the scene where Marcia learns Peter is to become a Sunflower Girl watch the bit where Marcia says "There isn't any reason why we can't join any group we want to." We cut from a close up of Marcia to a close up of Marcia and Peter. Suddendly Marcia is at a slight angle and it appears that Greg and Bobby have just left the scene. I wonder if a few lines of dialogue were trimmed for reasons of timing before the final edit?

Overall, this is an enjoyable episode and I love the music used during the scene where Greg goes to tell Marcia that she is now a Frontier Scout.

Yes, I liked the music during that scene also. I love all of the brady bunch incedental music. It is so well done. I wish there there could be a cd someday. I am sure that there may be a way to extract it from the dvd without the dialogue, but it would not be that easy or it may be too expensive to do myself.

There is this CD though I am sure it is illegal. I do not have it myself but would love a real BB CD full of the shows music. One of my favourite tracks is from the My Fair Lady episode when Marcia walks into the house in a foul mood.

Thanks for letting me know about the CD. I guess it's a start. $9.00 is not too bad. I may buy it. This is one of my favorite tracks also, it is also found in The Drivers seat, The Cincinnati Kids, and A clubhouse is not a home.

It's a bit sad but whenever I watch the My Fair Lady episode I always watch the first teaser over and over with the volume cranked up as Marcia storms through the house. And then the first music cue after the break where Mike and Carol go to check on Marcia. I think that music cue was used just the once.

Very tempting to buy this......since it is very unlikely we will ever get this any other way.

You are right, I remember noticing that the second music cue you are referring to was only used once. (AFAIK) It sounds like you know a lot about the different ques.

I always thought it would be interesting to learn more about the history and use of these music cues. Maybe a discussion thread could be created to talk about the cues. I wonder if others would be interested?

No, i have just seen TBB too many times I guess and often when watching my head is nodding to the music cues I really like. One of the best episodes to hear a lot of the music is the Cincinatti episode.

Actually, that episode is called "My Fair Opponent". (Or was it called "My Fair Lady" in England?) I checked some of the tracks, and I thought #54 fit the description since it's called a "Mad Marcia theme".

"My Fair Opponent" had its own instrumental tune which I never heard in any other episode. It was played during the montage where Marcia was making over Molly, and it seemed to feature a flute most prominently, if not entirely. Another memorable background tune, which I have not yet located on that webpage, was sometimes played when something bad was in the process of happening. I remember it being played when Myron the mouse was chewing his way out of the hamper where Jan had put him in "Jan, the Practical Joker".
