SEINFELD star LEN LESSER was forced to turn to the cops on Wednesday (25Aug10) after receiving an influx of prank calls.

The 87-year-old actor, who played Seinfeld's Uncle Leo on the sitcom, was furious after he was bombarded by a multitude of callers, asking him, "Are you Uncle Leo?"

Lesser asked authorities in Burbank, California to come to his home because he "couldn't take it anymore", according to TMZ.com.

Police are reportedly investigating the matter.

I've seen Len Lesser in interviews and he's a very nice person. It's a shame he has to deal with something like this.

That's awful that people feel that they have to invade the privacy of celebrities. I'm sure he enjoyed being on Seinfeld, but this is a terrible way for people to show their appreciation-by basically bullying the man.

On one of the Seinfeld DVD extras, Wayne Knight was talking about how his aunt died and he was on the street and people were coming up to him saying "Hellooo Newman."

I mean, funny is funny, but still....

When I saw Jerry Seinfeld in Seattle (on stage) back in 2005, people in the audience were shouting "Where's Elaine and Kramer?" God, I bet he gets sick of that, but he was hilarious when he answered "They're not here!"

i bet that was funny because of the deadpan matter of fact way that he has been known to reply to things like that in interviews
