Whitman Mayo Revealed He Didn't Want Anything to Do With 'Sanford & Son'

In a 1974 interview, Whitman Mayo (Grady) says he did a friend a favor did a cameo an the show & that favor lasted for 6 more episodes. When Redd Foxx left the show in a dispute, Mayo wanted nothing to do with the lead....With all that said, why did he accept a spinoff? lol |

It's interesting to see the links to other newspapers that have the same story with different names. The Lewiston Evening Journal version even printed more of the story than this paper did.
