It's Official! Britney Spears to Appear on "Glee"

After much speculation and a cryptic quote from "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy last week, Britney Spears confirmed earlier today via Twitter that she will, in fact, appear in the show's homage to her oeuvre.

She wrote: "About to do my first shot of the day for Glee tweeties! Here we goooo!"

Spears will reportedly be playing a fictionalized version of herself, and posted a Twitpic from the Fox set.

Spears follows in the footsteps of Madonna and Lady Gaga, who both had episode-long tributes to their catalogs in the show's first season. However, she'll be the first to actually star in the episode, and apparently, she's the one who wanted to do it.

Murphy told press at the premiere of his film Eat Pray Love, "Well, it's her idea. She sort of wants to do a 'Where's Waldo?'-type thing with 'Where's Britney?'"

While filming her upcoming appearance on the Fox megahit "Glee", pop darling Britney Spears took a few seconds to tease fans with some behind-the-scenes photos.

"All my GLEEKERS in the crowd, Grab a partner take it down," Spears tweeted Thursday night, adding a picture of herself and "Glee" star Heather Morris.

The photo is a reenactment of Spears' 2003 music video with Madonna for "Me Against the Music," the first single from Spears' In the Zone album.

Spears' tweet also quoted the first line of the song.
