Oh No Very Disturbing Letter Involving Nyleen Kay Marshall

This was the segment that involved nyleen kay marshall who was a little girl who vanished in 1983 while out with her parents. other kids claimed they saw her go with a man who wanted to play a chase the shadow game or something to that nature. Later in the segment it mentioned that letters were received from an unknown person who claimed he was taking perfect care of her and did not molest her. The police said they had reason to believe they were genuine because there were details in that letter about nyleen that were not released to the public.
I found an old thread on here that had excerpts from the letter from what was shown on screen from the letter and when I read it I literally had goosebumps.
This man made reference to doing something to her with a teaspoon of a sperm and in the next sentence he says he is not "molesting her"
The beginning of the sentence was cut off and it isn't clear what he is doing to the girl with his teaspoon of his sperm, but I'm really hoping it's not what I think it is
I actually registered and posted this because this is really disturbing me.
I hope Nyleen is eventually found alive and reunited with her family and I will continue to hope for that. It's really sad that these child kidnappers don't realize the amount of pain they inflict on not just the victims, but their family members, too.

I know. This has definitely been one of the more deeply disturbing UM cases. Unfortunately, regardless of the kidnapper's claims that he's "taking good care of her," I think it's highly unlikely that Nyleen is still alive after being missing for nearly 30 years, and as far as reuniting with her family goes, I'm not sure what the deal is with her father nowadays, or if she has any other relatives, but I do know that her mother (who appeared in the segment) has been dead for about 15 years now.

There are a few things (thankfully only a few) I have seen throughout the course of my life that I wish I could "unsee" - this letter is one of them.

I felt TERRIBLE the day I paused the video and read it for the first time. Oddly enough, I had the segment on video for years and never decided to freeze frame in an attempt to read the letter until recently, but I definitely wish I hadn't done so.

Heart-wrenching case...

I too doubt she is still alive as well, espeically considering how far her kidnapper would go already...

Its also incredibly sad to hear about her mother, who is now a unsolved mystery herself.

Yeah, I was the one who copied the letter after pausing it on my TV screen. It's disgusting.

The letter writer said apparently that he fed her that teaspoon of his stuff every morning. He never told her what it was exactly, only that he got it from the bathroom every morning. And he claimed to have never molested her in any other way, not that he never molested her.

Whatever the case, it's sickening to think about it.

If the letter was really written by Nyleen's kidnapper atleast there is some hope she is still alive and in a situation similar to what Jaycee Dugard went through.
I'm not naive about the world and the horrible things that occur in it, but what really disturbed me was the guy in this letter claimed what he was doing wasn't molesting her when in fact what he described is a form of child molestation. It seems most child kidnappers either try to justify their actions or they flatout don't care about the consequences of their actions whether it be rape or murder.
If by some chance this letter is a hoax then someone has an extremely sick sense of humor.
I still want to hold out hope she will be found and reunited with her father.
It's very sad to hear what happened to her mother
May her mother rest in peace.

I never believed the letter was a hoax. I'm sure that missing child cases generate all sorts of goofy, unrelated and downright false leads. The fact that the police choose to highlight this particular correspondence and go public with it tells me that they must have believed it to be authentic, at least at that time. Ergo, I'm certain that the full letter must have contained some additional crucial information, perhaps information withheld from the public, that convinced investigators that the author of the letter was Nyleen's abductor.

Why do people that believe the letter is authentic think she's dead?
I don't think the letter is a hoax either.
I'm actually suprised that alot of people that think the letter is real would believe she is dead.
There are a few reasons why I think if the letter is authentic that she may still be alive.
Nyleen was only 3 when she was kidnapped and I'm sure she must have little to no memory of her former life with her parents.
She could easily have been brainwashed and is now accustomed to a new lifestyle with this man.
The man also made contact with a missing child center with both phone calls and letters.
The letters made it clear that this man was fond of the little girl and doesn't believe he is doing any wrong which is why he probably even mentioned that one disturbing piece of information to begin with.
Although there alot of child molestors that are also killers there are some that aren't and I'm hoping that judging by the letter he is not a killer.
Even though she has probably undergone years of sexual and mental abuse I still believe that if she is found her life can be salvaged and she can find someway to move forward.
I honestly think she may be in a situation similar to Jaycee Dugard's because of this and she was missing for close to 20 years!
From what I heard Dugard is also progressing well with her real family and trying to live a normal life.
One can only hope that if Nyleen is still alive the same will be possible for her.

We know little about the author of the letter but I think it is reasonable to assume that he is a pedophile. Although pedophiles like children of different ages, it varies from one offender to another. For example, a pedophile may prefer very young girls while another may prefer girls in their early teens. It's a personal taste. As Nyleen aged, it's possible that he may have lost interest in her sexually as she matured beyond his specific age preference. What would he have done with her then? If anything, she becomes a liability. As she gets older, she may want to rebel, she may start asking questions about her family (assuming this man is her only family) and keeping her existence a secret as well as keeping her shielded from the world outside becomes much more problematic.

I'm not saying for sure that she is dead. However, I could certainly understand the letter from 1985 being authentic, but that not necessarily meaning she continued to live for years beyond that.

I think there is a chance that Nayleen could be alive and just forgot all about her past, BUT there's also a chance that she could be dead, honestly, until we find the man responsible, we wont ever know.

I never believed the letter was a hoax either Justin and I'll tell you why: According information I gleaned from The Charley Project there was information in those letters not released to the general public and through my own research I believe I have discovered what that information is and it is something noticeably absent from every report I've read on this case.

Having researched this case pretty thoroughly online over the years, I've never been able to locate any details about the clothing which Nyleen was wearing at the time of her disappearance. Now you think that in the case of a missing child who disappeared in a national park with a bunch of other families around that one of the key points that the authorities would want to harp on would be the clothing Nyleen was wearing when she vanished.

In fact I've found that information like this is often a staple of many of the various fliers or posters regarding missing children where authorities say "When last seen ___ was wearing such and such" but not in the case of NKM. In fact it almost seems that this vital piece of information has been deliberately held back for some reason.

I submit the reason is because in these letters or phone calls, the alleged abductor gave such an accurate description of how Nyleen was dressed at the time of her abduction that it convinced the authorities that the person who was writing these letters may have been involved in Nyleen's disappearance.

It is also important to note that in the disappearance of Nyleen Kay Marshall that the phone calls from the alleged abductor were traced to the Edgerton/Janesville, Wisconsin area and there was in fact a sighting of a girl resembling Marshall at a restaurant in this same area. Now to me it's very strange that those two incidents would link up.

Some excellent points. I wonder if the clothing worn by the young girl portraying Nyleen in the segment was actually representative of what she was wearing that day. In light of what you deduced, it seems doubtful.

I figured the letters had to have additional information. The two or so half pages they showed on television can't be the entire letter. Additionally, RS mentioned at the end of the segment that the author had indicated that both of his own parents (and possibly a sibling?) were killed in a car crash (not something visable on the portions of the letters shown on camera). For some reason, this tidbit was always edited out of the Lifetime airings. However, Crystaldawn and I noticed it on an NBC airing.

I have to question Lifetime's editorial decision making here. I know "something has to be go" but this detail is crucial and specific enough that it could lead to the identity of the author.

Question to the above posters, where did you find the letter? Do you have access to internal info from family/police?
