That in the black and white episodes of "Bewitched",the witch characters(Endora,Maurice,Bertha,Aunt Clara,Serena,George the Warlock,Samantha's cousin Edgar,Uncle Arthur,Samantha's one-shot,one-episode old beau played by Richard Dreyfuss)were a lot nicer and less mischievous than in the color episodes.(Especially Endora,Serena and Uncle Arthur)Aunt Clara was always nice in both black and white and color and both Samantha and Darrin liked her.In color,Bertha was a lot ruder than she was in "There's No Witch Like an Old Witch",when she showed some degree of compassion for Aunt Clara,and Maurice was the same,somewhat likable.Anyone notice that?

Thanks.And I've got some more points,and I hope they're just as good.So,here goes:The first three seasons(the first two black and white ones and the third color )showed a little more imagination.Oh,sure,there were episodes which did show a good imagination,as in "Samantha's Wedding Present",but mostly it was predictable-you know the bit-Darrin gets a spell cast on him-Larry fires him,later hires him again,and Samantha saves the day.That bit got old fast.

To be honest I don't see where one gets the idea that Bewitched was formulaic in it's story lines & plot devises.

People say just about every episode was about a spell being zapped on Darrin & then what to do about it and Samantha saving the day etc.

The stats just do not back this up.
If anything what is suggested as the constant norm was actually in the minority.

So to say this started after the first 3 or 4 or 5 seasons the rest of the way to the end of the run of Bewitched, well as they say in the Ozarks about the plausibility of such a statement............................................that Dog just Ain't gonna Hunt.

At the earliest the well did not run dry till the last 4 or 5 episodes of season 8, an excellent & highly enjoyable season as a whole i might add.

I don't think the shenanigans of (Endora,Maurice,Bertha,Aunt Clara,Serena,George the Warlock,Samantha's cousin Edgar,Uncle Arthur,Samantha's old beau played Rodney were any different in the second half of the series seasons then the first, Rodney & Edgar were as troublesome as any later to follow, Bertha as time went on actually was a much more mellower milder character in the later years then she was in the earlier ones.

Endora was especially as troubling & difficult as she was in later years.
What was the case in Season one was that Endora rarely actually interacted Darrin as she did from Season two on, it was more indirect & in the shadows instead of in Darrin's face, but the activity & problems caused was just the same.

It was always Samantha she was interacting with as they discussed this or that which Endora was upset about before she zapped someone or something to change things to where she thought they should be.

In Season 6 the writers used were DY era writers for all but 3 ep.
and in season 7 all but 4 ep. and season 8 all but one ep.
