It's hard to compare shows from different years on different networks, but I went with NBC 1990.

Definitely CBS 1997. It had Early Edition, Touched by an Angel, Murphy Brown, The Nanny, and Everybody Loves Raymond, and I also liked Diagnosis Murder, Promised Land, and Cosby. The only NBC shows on that list I like are Cheers, Law & Order, and The Cosby Show, although I'm interested in seeing Dear John and Wings.

Someone should send this to NBC to show them what they looked like when they actually were a television network. I count 16 shows on NBC that I liked. Today it's only Chuck and SVU which I'm about to give up on.

I think NBC 1990 is much better. While CBS had some good shows, NBC just had a much better overall schedule.
CBS 1997 they just seemed to be trying to get ratings from past success (bringing over Family Matters and Step by Step from ABC and setting up their Party Block to try to compete with TGIF, which wasn't happening lol). In 1997, they also brought over Unsolved Mysteries from NBC when its popularity was waning as well. So to me, I just find CBS was in a huge scramble trying to revive all these big-name shows that had already jumped the shark instead of creating their own new programming. So just for that reason, NBC 1990 wins. |

On CBS I like four: Raymond, the criminally underrated Cybil, The Nanny & Murphy Brown.
On NBC I like five: The Golden Girls, Cheers, Night Court, Wings & Law & Order. NBC by a narrow victory. |

NBC - The Golden Girls, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The Cosby Show, A Different World, Cheers, Dear John.
CBS - Family Matters, Step by Step, Murphy Brown. I'll go with NBC, but I didn't love either of these lineups. |

Without question: N-B-C 1990, The Place to Be!
NBC, the network that gave CBS a huge black eye in the ratings during the late '80s and most of the 1990s was still in full force, especially withtheir sitcoms. Cheers finally reached #1 for the 1st time in 8 years, The Cosby Show which was once the #1 show on TV was finally knocked off The Top 10 as its own spin-off show A Different World even beat its own parent show in the ratings, The Golden Girls was still going strong, Empty Nest saw its highest-rated season of all, The Fresh Prince which came out during this season didn't even make a dent in the Top 25/Top 30 until around its 3rd or 4th season. Unsolved Mysteries was still going strong, L&O started, Wings was chugging along, as was L.A. Law. But where was Amen during this season since it would end in 1991? CBS 1997, CBS was still trying to get out of its own ratings basement it's been in ever since NBC put a huge black eye in their ratings since the late 1980s and earlier in the '90s. Even in 1997, they were still struggling, especially since most of their existing shows were getting canned, on the verge of getting canned, or struggled in the ratings. CBS was having major heat thrown on them w/ their sitcoms. Murphy was on its final legs, so was Cybil. Nanny was on the verge of cancellation until 2 years later, George and Leo never stood much of a chance, Family Matters and Step by Step were already washed-up and CBS gave them no better treatment, The Gregory Hines Show wasn't given much of a chance, either. |

I watched the NBC "Place to Be" Fall 1990 promo and it had Amen in their line-up but was scuttled again to mid-season status and yet I didn't see Blossom (which premiered mid-season in very early 1991) in the promo. |
