In Ankara, Turkey a groom named Tevfik Altin lost control of a weapon during his wedding. The result of the loss of control was the death of 3 guests.
The story goes that the groom was given an AK-47 after the vows were said. The groom was firing an AK-47 automatic wedding into the air when he lost control of the weapon and aimed it at guests. The groom killed his father, 60, and two aunts, 19 and 55. Eight other relatives were injured during the Sunday celebration in a little village of Akcagoze, Gaziantep. Several children from ages 10 to 16 were also injured. Police arrested the groom and the cousin who gave him the weapon. The tradition in Turkey is that when someone gets married, someone fires a weapon into the air to celebrate. Turkey has been trying to destroy the dangerous tradition due to the fact of several stray bullet accidents occurring. It is not uncommon for more than one person to be firing a weapon after a wedding. http://specials.msn.com/A-List/Lifes...dding%20guests CNN asked witnesses what happened. One stated that it happened "very quickly." We imagine this incident will only aid Turkey in their fight to end weapons discharge after celebrations. (c) tPC |

I understand how old traditions are important to some people, but I see no real reason to use live ammunition for this. Nobody (well almost nobody) uses live ammo. for ceremonial use.
Blanks should be used instead, plus getting the approval regarding gun laws and procedure. |

Tell you what, if this couple ever decides to repeat their vows, I really don't see a whole lot of people showing up for THAT little celebration.
