Fantasia Barrino Hospitalized After Drug Overdose; "Heartbroken" Over Affair Allegations

Fantasia Barrino has been hospitalized after a drug overdose that police have classified as a suicide attempt.

The 26-year-old past "American Idol" winner was dehydrated and exhausted Monday night when she took aspirin and a sleep aid, said manager Brian Dickens.



Her overdose was classified a suicide attempt by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and she was found by police with "possible internal injuries," according to People.

She was in stable condition late Tuesday and is expected to be released soon from a Charlotte, N.C., area hospital, Dickens said.









Barrino's hospitalization follows allegations from a Mecklenburg County woman, Paula Cook, that the singer engaged in a "covert adulterous affair" with her husband, Antwaun Cook, and that Barrino was to blame for their separation in June.

Barrino denied that she was responsible for the marriage ending in a statement released Monday. However, in a new statement following her hospitalization, Dickens said Barrino dated Cook on and off for about 11 months after he told her that he and his wife had separated late last summer.
