Thought What do you think about THIS story?

At Kennedy Airport,a veteran flight attendant was the center of attention when a Jet Blue airliner made an unexpected landing ,because a woman passenger(who started the whole thing)chewed out a flight attendant who chewed HER out,and then, after a few beers,he went on the intercom, and let loose OVER THE PLANE'S INTERCOM with a tirade of foul-mouthed language. It's been all over the news today, and he has been hailed by some as a hero. But he could face 7 years in prison. What do you think of this story?

"Slater is alleged to have then activated the plane’s inflatable emergency slide, grabbed two beers from the galley, then slid down the chute, the official said."

That's pretty awesome, also, really dumb. I'm confused.

Crazy Flight Attendant Steven Slater: Facebook Rockstar

http://www.fox8.com/news/nationworld...,3436040.story

BELLE HARBOR, N.Y. (WPIX) - From fed-up flight attendant to cult hero. JetBlue steward Steven Slater may have spent the night in jail, but he woke up to rockstar status in the social networking universe.

Tens of thousands of cyber-fans are celebrating Slater's tarmac tantrum, in which he cursed out a cabin full of passengers and then slid down the plane's inflatable exit chute.

"Slater for President," writes one Facebook fan.

"I love that he took the beer," says another, referring to reports that Slater grabbed alcohol from the aircraft's galley before sliding down to the pavement.

The stunt is no laughing matter to the Queens District Attorney. Prosecutors say the inflatable slide weighs 3,000 pounds and could have injured or killed airport crews had they been standing underneath.

Slatter was expected to be released from jail after posting $2,500 bail Tuesday. He's charged with reckless endangerment, trespassing, and criminal mischief. The charges could send him to prison for seven years.

Despite the criminal accusations, the Youtube nation seems firmly in Slater's corner.

Referring to the flight attendant's foul-mouthed resignation speech, one poster says, "I mean haven't we all at one point or another felt like we could do that, and if we did it would be the best day of our lives?"

Another Youtube video shows a teenage folk singer performing "The Ballad of Steven Slater," an original song she wrote hailing the 38-year-old flight attendant as a working man's hero.

"So when the world's oppressing you and you can't take no more," she sings. "Just remember Steven Slater and slide right out the door."

And rumor has it (HLN's "Showbiz Tonight")that they are planning a "reality"show if he gets off.But how can a person who is in prison (and he just may be there for 7 years)do a reality show?

I don't blame the poor guy. Bravo for him - I hope some nice door materializes for him - he derserves it.

My own personal wish is someone outs that ****/***** of a passenger. Just who the heck does she think she is defying an aircraft employee? Flight attendents and pilots are all well trained to save our butts on a plane. What if her bag had instead fell on an elderly person, a baby or a pregnant woman? What if that door she so cavarlierly opened had injured someone else? Charges need to be pressed against her -the passenger from hell - as well as a very long time banning from being an aircraft passenger. She's an accident waiting to happen.

Again, I hope someone outs that horrid passenger - she deserves a lot of wrath. After hearing about her antics, I swear I've seen rabid animals behave better.

The fact that he took a beer or two with him on the way down probably wasn't the brightest idea, either.

I suppose two wrongs don't make a right but I did hear he looked down before extending the slide to make sure no one was there. BUT....where is that ##@!% passenger. She should be fined up the a** as well banned from flying for at least 7 years (10 sounds even better)

Yeah, I'm surprised we haven't heard anything about her - yet.

IMO he deserves everything he gets. The fact that he's being hailed a hero? All I can do is shake my head in amazement. What if he'd had a weapon, would those same people still think him a hero?
