It seems nowadays it's all about the dramas (Secret Life, Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girl, 90210, etc). The only good teen comedy (and the only teen comedy for that matter) I can think of that is currently airing is Glee. I really think we need more of those. When I was growing up we had so many to choose from...Boy Meets World, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, That 70's Show, What I Like About You, Full House, Family Matters, Sister, Sister... and the list and the list goes on. I really think the current generation of youth is missing out on good comedies (other than Glee) that they can relate to. Thoughts?

Most of the ones I know like the current dramas you mentioned and stuff like Jersey Shore, 16 and Pregnant (reality shows), The Office, etc. Just different times I guess.

Disney Channel and Nickelodeon are full of teen comedies that are (in my opinion) along the lines of old TNBC Saturday morning sitcoms. Wizards of Waverly Place and iCarly in particular get great ratings.
ABC Family tries younger sitcoms from time to time. I think 10 Things I Hate About You is still being made, and they are premiering a new show with Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence next week. I enjoyed last summer's Ruby and the Rockits, but unfortunately they didn't renew that beyond their original run. |

The networks need to take a cue from Nickelodeon and get back to the 3 camera comedies, iCarly is the best sitcom out there right now.

10 Things and Ruby and the Rockits were definitely good, but they just weren't along the same lines as the teen comedies of the 90's in terms of quality and likability. Maybe that's my age talking, but the newer shows just don't have the same feel. It could also be that I have expectations that just aren't realistic. In other words, I can't relieve the past. Hopefully Melissa & Joey will be funny and successful.

Nickelodeon's "iCarly," "Big Time Rush," "Victorious," and "True Jackson, VP" are four very entertaining and well-written comedies marketed towards preteens and teens. |
