Dryfus the dog - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I've noticed a lot of references and episodes featuring the big goofball dog "Dryfus"... most, if not every dog referred to by name is also named "Dryfus". Does anyone know whose dog that was and why he kept making appearances on The Golden Girls? I thought he might've been one of Betty's dogs since she's such an animal lover, or maybe one of the writers' dog?

Dreyfus was the dog on Empty Nest, a Golden Girls spin-off. I
didn't realize he also appeared on Golden Girls, but it makes sense.

Yeah...Dreyfus was Harry Weston's dog. He is in several episodes of the Girls as well.
