Interest in Facebook

Having a learning disability combined with being a child of the eighties makes it quite hard to adapt to new types of technology. It took me until my early thirties until I could effectively use the Internet or maintain an email address! Just look at the date that I joined this site and you will understand how long it took me to obtain the knowledge and develope the confidence to do so. I learned very early on the dangers of giving anyone my real name or any personal information. When I was new to this technology, I would get ads for everything from porn sites to people asking me if my syptic system had any problems! And the pop-ups would come in like nobody's business! Well, one thing that I have never got involved with before has been "Facebook". Is anyone reading this familiar with this system. The reason that I am asking has to do with one of my biggest crushes Lauri Hendler (Julie from this series)! I punched in her name on the Internet and learned that she has a "Facebook" page. I would really like to join, but I have no idea what I would be getting into. The site asks for both my first and my last name as well as my age. I have no problem giving this information to the staff of the site, but I am afraid of it getting into the hands of people on the outside who can use it to harrass me. Do any of you know, when you join a page like this, do all of the others members get access to your personal information?
