Cool Store manager tells robber Jesus wouldn't approve

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100731/..._foils_robbery

Sat Jul 31, 4:04 am ET

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) – A cell phone store manager in South Florida dissuaded an armed man from robbing the store by telling him Jesus wouldn't approve. Instead of panicking when the suspect pulled a weapon, Nayara Goncalves started talking with him. He was jobless, and the 20-year-old Christian offered to connect him with friends who could help him find work.

She said she believed the man when he said he attended church and wasn't a bad person. She told him the answer to his financial problems wasn't in the cash register.

Then, the clerk nudged him with a little sin of her own. She said the store would hold her responsible for any cash he stole.

Goncalves said, "I just wanted to remind him that he knew better."

Right On! This woman defended herself with the best weapon she had available, her faith! Good for her!

If the guy had a gun, she's lucky he was an amateur cause I think someone who isn't an amateur would have killed her no matter what.

Another thing possible is that the gun could have been unloaded.

A person with a loaded gun may easily shoot you on the spot but one with an unloaded weapon shows that they really don't want to hurt anybody.

Regardless... I'm glad this incident turned out ok for the clerk.

She's lucky the guy had a conscience! Otherwise her speech wouldn't have had any effect on him.

This incident reminds me of a joke I heard a few years ago.

A burglar goes into a house and starts putting things in his bag when he hears a faint voice saying Jesus is watching you! He looked around and didn't see anything and thought it was just his imagination. He proceeded to the next room and started loading up his bag again when he heard the voice saying Jesus is watching you! This time it was much louder and he knew it was for real. He went into the next room and heard the voice again and it was louder than before, Jesus is watching you! This time though he found the voice and it was a parrot who looked him dead in the eye and said Jesus is watching you! The man started laughing and then looked at the parrot and said. Polly want a cracker? The parrot said, My name isn't Polly. The man said well what is your name? and the parrot replied, Clarence. The man said Clarence! Who the heck would name a parrot Clarence? The parrot replied, The same person that named that rottweiller standing behind you Jesus!
