Question Any Diff'rent Strokes Fans Who Actually LIKED Maggie's Penthouse Makeover?

I personally hated it. It just didn't have that warm welcome feeling anymore. It became more of a museum, than a loveable penthouse...

I LOVED the makeover. In 1985, many shows got a makeover in set design and theme songs. It sure did look like a museum. I had no problem with it. Sorry guys!

I actually liked the Penthouse make-over. It was very late-1980's.

Cool. 1985 was the year when when just about everything got a makeover. Dead shows were being revived (i.e. It's A Living) A lot of theme songs were updated, (Fame, Silver Spoons, D.S., The Facts of Life, Love Boat) Everything was a changin'.

Actually, it was a 1950's-esque malt shop. It didn't sell just candy, they sold cookies, records, clothes, inflatables, etc. It was great and less stress on Mrs. Garrett. She just had one little corner.

Did those changes occur at the start of the 85-86 season?

Yes they did. Those changes did occur at the start of the enw season. The fall of 85' modernized a lot shows and sets. Look at Diff Strokes, Silver Spoons, The Love Boat. What's Happening came back as well. Solomon, if you research it enough, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Newlyweds Kate and Edward came from their honeymoon and Kate literally "cleaned house". She got rid of the ride along train that went through the house and redecorated the entire mansion. The theme song changed to a soft rock version and the opening was framed with moving profile pics of the cast.
