The Columbia lot in Southern California. Every write-up I ever read about the show has the setting in Westport, CT, but I don't ever recall them ever mentioning Westport by name on the show. It really had to be CA, since there were mountains (that we saw several times in exterior shots) and "the city" had to be LA.

There was no mention in the show ever that they lived in any location but Westport which i believe was the one in Conn., & there were several mentions of them living in Westport with 1164 MGC located in it.

It was stated on numerous occasions that 1164 MGC was located in Westport as is listed below.

What is important is what actually was seen in the series not what was in a script or an article in a Magazine or Book as what was actually in the episode is all that really counts, the rest doesn't exist in conjunction to Bewitched, Samantha & 1164 Morning Glory Circle, only the episodes filmed do.

In # 223 "Money Happy Returns" while angry & actually in the house @ 1164 Endora says in anger she is going to shatter every window in Westport if she doesn't get her way, clearly referring to this being the location in which 1164 was located in.

# 193- Handley's Department store has the Stephens' address recorded as "1164 Morning Glory Circle, Westport" & it is read as such out loud by the sales clerk that was turned into a little boy by Tabitha.

# 17- The realtor is "Westport Realty"

As well in the Pilot script the show was referred to as The Witch from Westport or words to that effect.

Also in # 209 "Samantha's Pet Warlock" Darrin tells a Client that"he lives way out in Westport", these are some that come to mind & i recall a few other instances where Westport is clearly stated as the geographical location for 1164 while NY is always mentioned as a vague location & never as the location of 1164 Morning Glory Circle.

So the Bottom line is that several times 1164's location is clearly stated as Westport but not once is it ever directly referred to as residing in NY or any other location.

Hence in my view 1164 is clearly located in Westport & not in any city in NY such as Patterson NY for example.

There was a Westport in the state of NY, but as a result of it's location to the city of NY with it being in the far northern part of the state, it could not have been possible that it was the location of 1164 MGC.

So my View is that it was Westport Conn. that was the home of 1164 MGC.

I suppose so - I haven't watched the DVDs in forever (my job search, interviews, filling out applications and sending out resumes have eaten up so much of my time lately), so I'll have to go back and watch!!

We are probably all aware that it was a set on the Columbia Pictures lot,as they I presume used the set for OTHER series, but what are the OTHER series that the set was used on?

McMahan and Tate is in NYC, because there are several mentions Darrin being one of the brightest young prospects on Madison Avenue. Also, in the episode 'The Short Happy Circuit of Aunt Clara', Abner mentions that the blackout has affected the entire eastern seaboard.

some mentioned in another post that the Stevens living room set was used in an episode of "GIDGET" once. And the set of Darrins office was used in "I DREAM OF JEANNIE" once or twice. Also in a TV-movie from the 70s called "BRIANS SONG" the living room set was also used.

The Kravitz kitchen on Bewitched also doubled as the Bellows kitchen on Jeannie, if I remember correctly.

I hope everyone realized that i was speaking of where 1164 MGC was located in a fictional sense re where Samantha & Darrin lived, not where Bewitched was filmed.

I had only watched bits and pieces of Bewitched up to that point, and didn't recognize the house as the Stephens home yet. I grew up with HI but didn't really get into Bewitched until I was an adult and started watching the reruns every morning when one of our local stations aired them several years ago.

In the show, the house is in Westport, CT and Darrin works in NYC.

Here's a page from Harpies Bizarre about the different uses of the sets:
